All first-year students enrolled in UG courses at McGill, 22 years of age and under, and have accepted McGill's offer of admission can get secured housing. For Fall session 2021 residence application will start from the first week of April 12, 2021.

Residence for Exchange Students

Exchange programmes under Fall 2021, limited housing accommodations are offered to exchange students on a first come first served basis. Accommodations are offered with the shared-facilities and studio apartments based on the room availability in Upper Year Undergraduate and Undergraduate student.

Exchange Students can get accommodation in 510 Pine and 3653 University where monthly rent varies from 589- 880 CAD.

McGill University Accommodation: How to Apply

Applications for residences under Fall 2021 will begin the week of April 12, 2021. The applications for residences are accepted, and accommodation is assigned depending on the understanding of commitment for the full academic year.

Students will get residence accommodation by simply clicking "yes" in response to the question regarding residence accommodation asked in the admission application form.

Students who withdraw from McGill University Residences for either academic or non-academic reasons must follow cancellation policies.

For undergraduate application candidates must be 22 years of age or under (on Sept 1).
Deadline of the Application Process is in early July 2021.

Application Process for McGill UG Residences

  1. First Log in to Minerva, then open the Student Housing Status Applicant tab.
  2. Accept Student Housing Offer.
  3. Click I agree after reading the room reservation agreement.
  4. Make a rank from each choice option from the given preference of residence halls and type of accommodation. Information about all residence halls and types of accommodation can be found from here. For specific accommodation like dietary or mobility restrictions, special form must be filled.
  5. Answer the survey questions which influence you to find a roommate for a double room. Residence hall will assign it by lottery.
  6. Payment of 1500 CAD residence fees along with a 30 CAD residence application fee must be paid before deadline.
  7. Payment must be done with credit card only.
  8. Keep a copy of the Payment confirmation page.

Application Process for McGill Graduate Residences

While applying for accommodation, all international applicants must fulfill some minimum academic requirements while applying for admission into graduate courses at McGill University:

  • The candidates must have the university degree with a minimum credit of 3.0/4.0 or the equivalent.
  • Applicants must fulfil the criteria of McGill graduate department during applying. Admission to McGill is very competitive.
  • International applicants must have a score of proficiency in English.
  • Candidates must click on "yes" in response to residence accommodation during filling of the admission application form.
  • If you do not respond in Residences on the General Application Forms, then must contact the Graduate Housing Office.
  • You must check Minerva for housing after admission.
  • Confirm your room reservation before the deadline (usually two weeks after application on Minerva).
  • Read the detailed information about accommodations before confirmation.
  • Arrange the choice of accommodation in a rank, answer some brief questions and pay the residence deposit 1000 CAD with 30 non-refundable application fee.
  • Candidates must follow reservation agreements and choices of accommodation.

Royal Victoria College Residence

Dormitory-style along with shared washroom facilities located centrally on each floor. Shared kitchenettes and common rooms include 2 TV rooms, games room, aerobics room, study room and a large lounge. It is 8-10 minutes walk to the university campus. Some important points are mentioned below:

McConnell, Molson and Gardner Halls are surrounded by Bishop Mountain Hall cafeteria. The residents of all three halls take their meals from one central location. It takes 8-10 minutes from university. Highlights of these three Halls are mentioned below:
