The goal of this program is to help prepare students to meet the new challenges they will encounter as citizens and professionals in the information age, and to qualify them for immediate entry into professional careers or graduate programs in film or theater. Students in the film and theatre production concentration focus more on courses in theatre production (lights/sound). The program helps students learn how to analyze, integrate, and apply the theories that form the basis of the film/video discipline, and to work in a practical, professional capacity. To maximize job prospects after graduation, students are encouraged to pursue second majors or minors in related fields connected to their interests and abilities and actively seek real-world opportunities through internships.
All liberal arts majors prepare students with the skills identified as contributing to managerial success: communicating and listening well, possessing insights into others, creative/critical thinking, problem solving, and the ability to make connections across complex ideas.
