The mission of Animal Science program at Florida A&M University is to provide a comprehensive education in the animal sciences and related disciplines. The Program aspires to produce top quality students that are prepared to meet the growing challenges of a global society. The current make-up of the faculty of the Animal Science program has expertise areas that include but are not limited to: livestock production, nutrition, meat and poultry processing, food safety, animal health, herd health, reproductive physiology and environmental science. The program strives to educate students using the latest information and technology available. This information stems from research-based information that addresses critical issues facing the animal industry. Through extension programs, faculty also conducts workshops, seminars and other educational opportunities for livestock producers, extension personnel, and other stakeholders.
The Bachelor of Science Animal Science: Pre-Veterinary is offered by the Florida Agricultural & Mechanical University program in Animal Science is geared towards preparing individuals: to manage numerous and varied scientific innovations and technology, efficiently utilize knowledge and labor, and to increase quality production and management amid the livestock industry.
