Program Goals
Goal 1: Knowledge
It is the goal of the Interdisciplinary Humanities Program to introduce our majors to the methodologies used by disciplines within the Humanities (e.g. Art, English History, Languages & Literatures, Music, Philosophy, Theatre Arts and Performance Studies, and Theology & Religious Studies.
Goal 2: Skills
The primary objective of the Interdisciplinary Humanities Program is to ensure that students are able to demonstrate the skills of humanistic study, i.e., the ability to analyze, think critically, write clearly and persuasively, and create a work of art.
Goal 3: Performance
The program aims to graduate students who can demonstrate the ability to perform or present a complex body of information in both one-on-one and group contexts.
The Interdisciplinary Humanities Program's goals are aligned with the University Goals. In particular, the department, like the University, is committed to the goals of? "cultural competence," "integrated learning experiences," and giving a "privileged place to the liberal arts" in?[the] undergraduate curriculum."
