The staff prepare you to succeed in the interdisciplinary field of urban design by providing opportunities for case studies to test and apply new insights, theory, and designs to contemporary and future challenges. You?ll learn to apply a range of design tools, including digital modeling for urban design, geographic information systems, urban micro-climate tools, and ecological performance indicators.?
The program director is a leading researcher in urban climate science, and our Urban Climate Lab contributes to the critical dialog in New York City and other cities confronting climate change. Our popular study abroad program has been integrated into the design studio sequence, and our summer break prior to the third (final) semester encourages you to take on internships with New York-based firms or agencies.
