The purpose of the MS in Finance program is to provide students with theoretical knowledge and practical skills to be innovative, well-informed, and experienced finance professionals. The curriculum is based on the financial theory and empirical methods employed by professionals practicing corporate finance, financial security valuation, financial modeling, portfolio management, financial services management, financial risk management, and corporate governance.

A four-year U.S. bachelor’s degree in any academic field from an accredited college or university with a GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale is required.

Three letters of recommendation from professors (preferably), employers, or others who have had a supervisory relationship with students and are able to assess their potential for success in graduate studies.

Unofficial transcripts for all institutions attended are required with their application.

International students need to have an F-1 or J-1 visa in order to study in the U.S. OISS is responsible for producing the documents needed by the student to apply for the F-1 or J-1 visa. F-1 students receive an I-20 and J-1 students receive a DS-2019. The wait and processing time for a student visa will vary widely from country to country and consulate to consulate. Generally, it is recommended that students receive their documents at least 2 months before the start of their program.
Most students will obtain an F-1 visa; however, some students may join UD as part of an exchange program, or they may be fully funded by their governments. These situations usually require a J-1 visa.

Work-study programs furnish federal or state funding to subsidize wages, providing on- and near-campus employment opportunities to undergraduate students with financial need. The University of Delaware employs Handshake to post on-campus jobs and those with campus partners. Students use Handshake to create user profiles with which to review and apply to job postings.
Awarded students receive work-study in their financial aid package, but other students may be eligible.
