In this major students will study the chemical and physical nature of materials at the macro, micro, and nano scales. They will understand the relationships between structure, properties, and processing of engineering materials, with an emphasis on applications and materials design.

They will learn from highly regarded faculty who have a strong commitment to teaching and mentoring and regularly take students on plant trips to see how materials science and engineering is applied in industry, commerce, and national laboratories.
