The degree offers you performance opportunities and is designed for those interested in pursuing academic areas outside of a music-only curriculum. As a music major in the Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) program, you are required to complete at least 41 credits in music. You will study music theory, aural skills, music history, performance study, and participate in large ensembles at Rutgers. In order to graduate with a major in music, you must pass a piano proficiency examination, and must achieve a minimum grade-point average of 2.5 in courses required for the major.
