US Visa Application Process

After successful admission into university, International Student Services will handle the I-20 form and visa required to study in the USA related processes. After acceptance, international students will receive an I-20 form with a SEVIS number to their registered email address. The requirements and procedure for the same are below:

• Bank statements demonstrating funding for the school along with the banker's signature and government sponsorship letter (if any) are to be provided at the office.
• The amount shown in the financial statement should cover two regular semester fees and living costs, the prescribed amount is around 32,508 USD to 34,066 USD ( for masters and undergraduate students respectively).
• Scanned copy of passport showing information like name, date of birth and expiry date. The passport should be at least 6 months ahead of expiry while residing in the U.S.
• During the orientation program for international students, passport and the I-20 form needs to be carried.

University of Memphis Admission Decision

The university will send a notification about admission decisions to those who are accepted for admission. The students are advised to frequently check their email for any additional documents required. The decisions for graduate programs may take longer than undergraduate programs. The graduate student will be notified with a 20 digit code for activating a student account through the iam.memphis.edu.

The international applicants opting for Graduate programs at Memphis should apply well in advance as the office takes around 3-6 week for verification of documents. University advises applying at least four months in advance to deadlines. After acceptance, one should ensure that he/she applied for an I-20 form to initiate the visa process. Possessing health insurance during the time of arrival is mandatory for all international students.
