The School of Visual Communication Design's B.S. degree program builds a photography professional through experiential learning opportunities, as well as through required courses in graphic design and multimedia.

Photographers held about 136,300 jobs in 2012. Most of them worked in and around large cities. More than 1 out of 2 were self-employed, a much higher proportion than the average for all occupations. Most photographers who work for someone else work in a photography studio. Also, newspapers, television studios and magazines commonly employ photographers.
