The program can be tailored to meet the needs of certified public accountants and attorneys. Individuals who need to complete the 150-semester hour requirement in order to be eligible to take the CPA examination may major in taxation rather than accounting. Students admitted into the MS in Taxation program should have completed appropriate college-level course work in United States federal taxation, such as ACCT 143,?ACCT 214, or an approved equivalent from another college. Students not having at least one of these courses may still be admitted but must satisfy the admission requirement by taking courses at Hofstra (which will not count toward program requirements).
