Training includes the development of a broad knowledge base in the areas of health promotion, disease prevention, and program planning and implementation, with an emphasis on educational methods and techniques appropriate for a school setting. The program combines on-campus course work with a broad array of field experiences in a variety of school settings, culminating in student teaching. Literacy, multicultural education, information technology, and inclusion are integrated throughout all areas of the curriculum. Students who successfully complete the program and pass all New York State certification requirements will qualify for New York State initial teaching certification.
