Founded on the central principles of the liberal arts, Furman's nationally-recognized Teacher Education program prepares teachers to be scholars and leaders in their field. You'll be developing not only teaching skills, but also learning how to make decisions and reflect on important topics that will enable you to adapt and shape different learning environments.

Our challenging senior practicum and fifth-year internship/optional M.A. program ensures you'll be offered more mentoring opportunities and classroom teaching experience than any other program in the state of South Carolina.

As part of our Teacher to Teacher program, Furman University has entered into formal partnerships with local school districts to provide multiple levels of support and supervision for teacher candidates. University supervisors provide guidance on translating theory into practice, while district mentors provide direction in understanding the local community, school, and classroom.
