International students aspiring to get admitted to Furman University must apply online and meet all the minimum requirements laid by the university.

Admission Requirements:

• Official academic transcripts from all the institutes/universities attended with their relevant English translations
• Reports from local examinations like ICSE, CBSE, IGCSE, etc evaluated by an official evaluator agency are required for admission
• English proficiency test scores like TOEFL, IELTS, Duolingo are required and must be provided with the minimum marks or above
• The Furman Financial information form must be completed and submitted. Financial proof must be displayed with bank statements or an affidavit from a sponsor
• A copy of the passport and immigration documents to verify the international student’s identity must be given
• Standardized test scores like SAT/ACT are not mandatory but can be provided to strengthen the application
• In case of graduate admissions, a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution should be provided
• GRE/GMAT/MCAT/DAT scores are required/recommended in some graduate courses
• CV/Resume is required in some programs
• Letters of recommendation
• Statement of purpose
• A self written essay is required in some programs
• Interviews are optional but can be given through Vericant or InitialView
• Work experience is required in some graduate programs
• Auditions are a part of the application procedure for art-based or music majors

English Proficiency Test Scores Requirements

International students must provide English proficiency test scores to be considered for admission at Furman University. The accepted forms of tests and their minimum score requirements are given below:

Visa Process for International Students

International students who want to study in the USA at Furman University should first obtain an i-20 form and then use it to generate a student visa. To get an i-20 form, the student should provide the academic transcripts, English proficiency test scores, financial documentation, and additional requirements to the university. Copy of the passport biographical page and bank statements declaring financial stability must be included in the documents. After the university has issued an i-20, the candidate can proceed with the F-1 or J-1 student visa application along with payment of the SEVIS fee which is 350 USD. After that, the student should get in touch with the embassy/consulate in their home country to ensure the documents needed for a visa interview. Generally, the following documents should be brought for a visa application at the embassy:

• A valid passport which will stay valid for at least 6 months beyond the student’s stay period in the USA.
• I-20 form issued from Furman University or form DS-2019.
• Acceptance letter from Truman State University.
• Form DS- 7002 should be provided in the case of J-1 applicants.
• SEVIS fee receipt with the amount shown (350 USD).
• DS-160 application confirmation page with barcode and application ID number.
• MRV fee payment confirmation receipt.
• Current employment/job offer letters are required in the case of J-1 applicants.
• Visa interview appointment letter’s printed copy.
• 2-3 photographs in the requested format

After submission of the documents, the candidate should make sure if any additional documents are required. Once all the steps have been completed and the interview has been cleared, a stamp will be issued on the passport which will act as the visa to the US for the applicant.
