Whether the goal involves applying mathematics to solve problems in business and industry, teaching in higher education, preparing for further graduate study in mathematics or related fields, or working in a rapidly the growing field of big data analysis as a statistician, this program enables each student to pursue a course of study that is appropriate for his or her interests. To address these varying interests, the department is offering three concentrations: Pure Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, and Statistics.

The Pure Mathematics Concentration shares three (9 S.H.) core courses with the other two Concentrations. Each has its own required courses, restricted electives, and free electives. The required and restricted electives are concentration specific, and those for the Pure Mathematics Concentration are listed in the table below. We note that the Free Electives for one concentration can come from the Required Courses or Restricted Electives of the other concentrations.
