Admission Deadline
Admission deadlines for international applicants are different from domestic applicants. International applicants are not offered early decision admissions. The deadlines to apply as international UG and PG applications are mentioned below

Admission Requirements: The minimum admission requirements for international students at the University of Detroit Mercy are:
- Certificates Evaluation Report (Course-by-Course for transfer students and graduate students; and Documents-by-documents for undergraduates)
- A current résumé or curriculum vitae (optional for undergraduate applicants and transfer students)
- A statement of financial support form from a sponsor or an official financial statement with a balance above the total amount to cover the first year of study which includes tuition and living expenses

Note:
- Applicants are advised to make use of a recognized United States-based educational credential evaluation service, such as the World Education Services (WES) or the Educational Credential Evaluators (ECE).
- Freshmen applicants are advised to order for the Document-by-Document Report if using WES and the General Report with Grade Average if using the ECE
- Transfer students and graduate applicants with previous foreign college coursework are required to order for the course-by-course report no matter the type of credential evaluator used.

- Financial statements and a copy of the information page of the passport are only required for the issuance of I-20 to apply for a student visa after the offer of admission has been made to the students. Therefore it is not a compulsory admission prerequisite.
- The official financial statement and the statement of financial support form must not be dated more than three months before the desired start term
- The university accepts a financial statement with balance less than the total annual cost of study for the first year if the applicant is currently working in the United States
- A Bachelor's degree from a foreign university will be considered IF determined completed as U.S. equivalent on an official, course-by-course/detailed evaluation report prepared by World Education Services (WES) or Educational Credential Evaluators (ECE)
- Only applicants who have satisfied all the necessary admission requirements will be invited to campus for an interview with the Selection Committee members. The student's overall application, essay, and performance in the interview are used to determine admission decisions.
English Proficiency Test Score for International Students
- The University of Detroit Mercy admission does not have a strict English language policy for international students but students who are non-native speakers of English are required to possess Basic English communication skills related to immediate needs.
- For admission into science and engineering programs, the admission decision is made based on the academic grades and TOEFL/IELTS scores submitted. However, in the absence of an English language test, admitted students will be required to take the Accuplacer ESL Test upon arriving at Detroit Mercy
- If student’s score in ESL placement test indicate lack of proficiency in English language, students will be required to enroll in the American Language and Culture Program (ALCP), English as a Second Language preparation program at Detroit Mercy
- Applicants for nursing programs are required to demonstrate a good knowledge of the English language by obtaining a minimum of 83 on TOEFL IBT administered by the Educational Testing Service
