The graduate will acquire a strong foundation in programming and database technology normally required for careers in the business environment. For majors from other departments, this department also offers a minor as a second teaching field for persons interested in teaching computer applications at the secondary school and junior college level. In addition, the department offers a second major in computer information systems and a minor in computer science so that students may acquire computer science fundamentals relevant to their respective academic majors. Students will be trained on modern equipment having wide industry acceptance in areas such as operating systems, communications, database, simulation, graphics, and programming languages. Students also have access to a variety of laboratory, microcomputer, and mainframe equipment.
