The Bachelor of Arts in Music degree consists of fewer credit hours in music than the Bachelor of Music degree but allows for the selection of an emphasis within the music. Common emphases are composition, ethnomusicology, and historical musicology.
A general track is also available. Performance, music studies and jazz cannot serve as emphases (apply to the appropriate Bachelor of Music degree if you are interested in one of these areas). Areas in which the Butler School does not offer coursework (ex: music business, recording technology, music production) also cannot serve as emphases.
