Music education majors gain performance experience through ensemble participation, private music study, and recital preparation. These students develop portfolios and interviewing skills to assist them as they transition from college to professional teaching. They also participate in student teaching and may intern with local organizations such as the Anderson Area Children’s Choir.

Our music education graduates find their place in K-12 schools teaching choral and instrumental music. They may also continue their studies in music therapy or pursue graduate study to teach future teachers. We also offer Orff certifications on campus, giving our students access to additional skills to serve them as educators.
