As a food science major you will learn about the application of the basic principles of biology, chemistry, and physics in studying the quality, processing, preservation, preparation, safety, and development of foods. You will focus on one of the following programs: food science and technology (approved by the Institute of Food Technologists), food science and industry, or consumer food science.

A degree in food science will prepare you for a wide variety of career areas such as food chemistry, engineering, marketing and sales, production and management, or quality control and safety assurance.
