PhD is an abbreviation of Doctor of Philosophy which focuses on academics and research work. While pursuing a PhD, candidates have to prepare a dissertation on an assigned topic in its specialized subject under the guidance of experienced faculty.

Eligibility
Students who want to get admission into the PhD Program at Atmiya University must fulfil the eligibility criteria that are mentioned below:-
- Candidates should have passed Master’s Degree or an equivalent to Master’s Degree from the renowned College/Institute with least 55% marks in aggregate
- Candidates should have secured ‘B’ UGC 7-point scale if grading system is followed, or similar degree from a foreign educational institution accredited by an Assessment and Accreditation Agency which is approved by an authorized authority under a law in its home country.
- A relaxation of 5% marks (from 55% to 50%) in aggregate is provided to those belonging to SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/Differently-Abled and other categories of candidates as per the decision of the Commission from time to time or for those candidates who have qualified their Master’s Degree before 19 September 1991. The relaxation of 5% of marks is only for reserved categories of people or the above-mentioned cases are allowed only on the qualifying marks without the inclusion of grace mark procedures.
- Candidates whose M.Phil dissertation has been assessed and the viva voice is awaited are eligible to get admission in the PhD course in the same institution
AUMPET:
- AUMPET is an entrance examination conducted by the Atmiya University for the students who want to take admission in a PhD program in the institute.
- AUMPET consists of written examination and interview rounds/ viva voce in which candidates s are required to show to discuss their research interest/area through a presentation.
- Must secure 50% marks in AUMPET as it is essential for admission in the PhD program.
- Students will be selected on the basis of written exam, interview
- Higher Authorities and Board of Members will take the final decision of admission for PhD scholar candidates.
- AUMPET exam pattern consists of two papers General Aptitude and Specialization areas. General Aptitude paper includes Research Aptitude, Comprehension, Logical Reasoning, Teaching Aptitude, Mathematical Reasoning and Aptitude, People, Development and Environment, Communication, Data Interpretation and Higher Education System. The Specialization area consists of questions which you have chosen for a PhD.
Admission Guidelines
- The Atmiya University Offers PhD course in three different categories:-
- Full-Time Research Scholars
- Part Time-Internal Research Scholars
- Part-Time External Research Scholars
- The decisions of admission shall be made as per UGC norms and other statutory bodies concerned.
- Admissions to the PhD program shall be made via AUMPET ( Atmiya University PhD Entrance Test) which is conducted by the university itself.
- To get admission in PhD at Atmiya University candidates have to go through a two-stage process: i.e., Written Test and An Interview/ Viva Voce
- Candidates should have passed the Entrance Test (AUMPET) and obtained at least 50% marks as it is compulsory to get admission in the PhD program.
- The AUMPET syllabus consists of 50% of research methodology and 50% of subject-specific (In those subjects where UGC/CSIR NET examinations are not conducted, University Research Advisory Board of the respective subject will design the syllabus)
- Candidates who are seeking admissions to PhD programme under the Foreign/NRI category is not required to give the written test, thus they have to appear only in the interview with their research proposal
- Candidates who have passed CSIR-NET / M.Phil. / ICAR/ UGC-NET / SET/ GPAT GATE examinations or the candidates who are working in sponsored research projects are free from appearing in the written test
- The interview/ viva voce will be held at Atmiya University where candidates have to discuss their research interest/area via presentation before a duly constituted Departmental Research Committee (DRC). After the presentation is over, the committee will make decisions whether the candidate is capable of proposed research work or not.

A person who wants to get admission in PhD at Atmiya University must follow the steps mentioned below:
Step 1 The notification regarding admission of PhD course will be notified on the official website of the university i.e.,https://atmiyauni.ac.in/.
Step 2 Must visit the official website regularly to check the notification of admission and go through all the details relating to PhD admissions and then select the specialization in which you want to pursue your PhD.
Step 3 Candidates must fill the application form by providing all the correct details asked in the form. The PhD Application form is available on https://atmiyauni.ac.in/phd-application/.
Step 4 Must submit the application form online before the closure of the application. Also, attach the required documents in the application form.
Step 5 Submit your research proposal with the application form it is essential to seek admission.
Step 6 As per the Atmiya University norms students are required to qualify the written and interview test to seek admission in the PhD course.
Step 7 List of selected candidates will be displayed on the university website and also students will be notified via email or any other means.
Step 8 Once you are selected for admission, research guides will be assigned to you.

Course Structure
- Students pursuing PhD have to complete course work which carries 10 credits. Research Methodology is a part of the course work and is a compulsory subject.
- Research Methodology consists of the following areas such as quantitative methods, computer applications, research ethics and review of published research in the relevant field, fieldwork, etc.
- Students completing one or more courses in Research Methodology are eligible to get a minimum of 4 credits. Other courses are considered as advanced level courses for preparing the students pursuing M.Phil./PhD. degree.
- All courses specified in PhD course work must be duly approved by the concerned academic bodies authorized for this. These courses must mention specific content, instructional and assessment methods and must be in accordance with the instructional credit hour requirement criteria. The courses prescribed to the research scholars by the
- Department must be according to the recommendations of the Departmental Research Committee.
- The course work prescribed by the department for the students enrolled in M.Phil. and PhD programs have to be completed during the first and second semester.
- Candidates with an M. Phil. degree and enrolled in a PhD program or those who have already completed the course work in M.Phil. and pursuing PhD in the integrated course, Department may exempt them from the PhD course work.
- All other candidates pursuing PhD are required to complete the PhD course work as prescribed by the Department.
- Coursework grades including grades for research methodology are allotted based on the assessment of the Departmental Research Committee and the Department and final grades are then communicated to the Institution/College.
- PhD students must secure a minimum 55% marks or its equivalent grade in the UGC 7-point scale (or an equivalent grade/CGPA in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) in the course work to continue in the program and submit their dissertation/thesis.

The course structure of all specialization in PhD programmes may vary from subject to subject but we are providing a general overview of the course structure. The curriculum of the program consists of both Coursework and Research Work. The amount of course work students have to complete depends on their educational background and nature of research work being pursued by them.

- The students might get a chance to go abroad for the Visiting Scholar Program to refine their dissertation. After returning to India, the students have to start working on their PhD thesis which should be completed in the last year of the course
