Vishwakarma University offers Ph.D. degrees under eight different faculties namely Science & Technology, Commerce & Management, Art & Design, Law, Journalism, Media and Communication, Humanities and Social Sciences, Library and Information Science, and Interdisciplinary Studies (IDS).

• The minimum duration of the Ph.D. program is three years, including course work and the maximum duration is six years.
• A master’s degree or any other equivalent professional degree in the relevant stream with 55% marks is the minimum requirement to be eligible for admission.
• Admissions are made on the basis of VUPET followed by an interview.

Vishwakarma University Ph.D. Eligibility Criteria

For admission to the Ph.D. in the related subject, candidates fulfilling the following criteria shall be treated as eligible:

• Candidates must have completed a Master's degree or a professional degree declared equivalent to the Master’s degree by the corresponding statutory regulatory body, with a minimum of 55% marks in aggregate 

• A relaxation of 5% of marks, from 55% to 50%, or an equivalent relaxation of grade, will be allowed for those belonging to reserved categories/ Differently-Abled and other categories of candidates.

Vishwakarma University Ph.D. Admission Guidelines

• The admissions to Ph.D. programs are done on the basis of the candidate’s performance in VUPET followed by an interview.
• Candidates who have qualified NET in departments like UGC/CSIR/DBT/DST/ICMR/ICAR etc. or SET or qualified GATE are exempted from the entrance test.

• Candidates who have completed M.Phil. program of 2 years duration with at least 16 credits of course work and a dissertation in relevant subject or those who have 5 years of experience as an approved teacher in any institute are also exempted from the test.

• The interview is compulsory for all candidates. A merit list will be made on the basis of candidates’ interview performance.
