My friend joined IIIT Surat in 2019 and it turned out to be an average experience for him. Even though it ranks #4 on the NIRF ranking portal, it still has a number of shortcomings that get balanced out by its few achievements.

• The college director is very cooperative and has contributed a lot to the college. He supported students in starting startups, by assigning a club. 
• With his efforts, the college is now registered in the database of different states in just 3 years which is remarkable. 
• He has also set up a computer lab and an electronics lab as well.
• IIIT Surat faculty is good and well experienced. They will assign you a lot of real industry projects.
• The coding culture is good as well, and SVNIT is the mentoring institute of IIIT Surat. 

Placements - 

The hostel however has some room deficit. Some buildings are closed for renovation and the others have minimal rooms available. Also, MSc and M.Tech students can reside in Tagore Bhavan. Some SVNIT students lived in Tagore Bhawan just before the establishment of IIIT Surat in 2017, they have uploaded a few videos on the hostel life, you can check them out as well.

If you are interested in studying Computer Science or Coding, then you can take admission in IIIT Surat. In the following several comparisons between these two institutes are listed.

Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT)

1. IIIT Surat is based on the Private and Public Partnership that is PPP. It gets funds from the Government of India, the State Government of Gujrat, and some Industry Stakeholders.
2. The brand name of IIIT Surat is quite similar to IIT, additionally with the national tag.
3. IIIT Surat offers admission only in the core branches of Information Technology: ECE and CSE. These two branches also offer high salary packages, so that student here gets higher CTCs than the students of NITs.

National Institute of Technology (NIT)

1. The top engineering colleges in India are IITs (Indian Institute of Technology), as it has the brand name of “Indian”, while NITs have a “National” Tag.
2. Rather, NITs offer admission in most engineering branches, which are not available in IIITs.

Thus, it can be mentioned that IIITs are the best than NITs, specifically if the students want to establish their career in Electronics and Computer Science. Rather, for other branches, NITs are good, without any doubt.

One of my cousins studying at IIIT Vadodara said that it is much better than IIIT Surat. Following are some of the facts on why IIIT Vadodara would be a better option than IIIT Surat:

• IIIT Vadodara is an institute of national importance that will give brand value to a degree.
• IIIT Vadodara is running BTech in two specializations – Computer Science and Information Technology. They do not offer ECE, whereas IIIT Surat offers B.Tech in CSE and ECE.
• The coding culture at IIIT Vadodara is growing at a fast pace. If you are into coding, then you will get your desired environment in learning coding skills.

Other things that make IIIT Vadodara stand out are the excellent faculty and the sheer passion and enthusiasm of students for coding. They encourage students from every department to take part in the coding clubs or learn coding from scratch. This is something that other colleges do not provide. If the branch is not your concern, you can go for IIIT Vadodara otherwise opt for ECE at IIIT Surat.
