Course Information

Course Description

The NorthCap University offers both full time and part-time PhD programs in 23 specializations with a minimum duration of 3 years to a maximum duration of 6 years. The admission to PhD Program takes place twice a year, in June – July and November and December.

The admission for PhD Programs is done based on NPET/ GATE/ JRF/ SLET and UGC – NET scored with minimum weightage of 50% and 30% in qualifying degree. The final list of selection is approved by the Dean and Chairman of the university. The university accepts applications both in offline and online mode.

NCU PhD Course Highlights

The total intake of the PhD 2023 for all departments at NorthCap University is 68 seats.
Candidates who do not have a valid score in national tests like GATE, UGC-NET and SLET will have to appear in the university’s NPET and will have the following weightage: NPET marks – 50%, Qualifying degree marks – 30%, and Interview –20%
The annual PhD course fee at NCU is INR 82,000 for both full-time and part-time candidates. Semester-wise fees to be paid in two equal semester wise instalments of INR 41,000 each at the beginning of each semester.

NCU PhD Eligibility Criteria & Fees

The eligibility that each candidate must fulfil is mentioned in the below table.

Specializations	Eligibility Criteria
School of Engineering and Technology	Candidate must have qualified M.Tech with at least 60% marks in total along with NCU NPET score OR Candidates must qualify B.Tech degree from a leading university under 100 NIRF Ranking with at least 60% marks in total along with GATE/UGC/CSIR score.
School of Management	Candidates must have post graduated in any sector of Engineering, Management, Commerce, Economics and Operation Research or any other equivalent branch with at least 60% marks in total.
School of Law	Candidates need a Master’s degree in Law with a minimum of 55% from a recognized university. OR A candidate must have a Master’s degree in any branch with a minimum of 55% along with Social Science, Humanities and Science as required subjects from a recognized university. OR The candidate should have worked as a Judge of any State High Court or Judge of the Supreme Court of India with at least 3-year of experience.

Eligibility Criteria for Foreign National, NRI, OCI Applicants and Part-Time Candidates:

Foreign National, NRI, OCI Applicants: Candidate must have a Master’s degree from a foreign university along with an equivalence certificate of AIU.

For Part-Time Candidates: Candidate must submit ‘No Objective Certificate’ on a papyrus from a capable authority clearly expressing that the candidate is allowed to pursue PhD on part-time mode.

NCU PhD Admission Criteria

The admission criteria for Doctor of Philosophy is done based on marks scored in Entrance Test GATE, JRF, SLET, NET with minimum weightage of numerous components –

National Level Entrance Test – 50%
Qualifying Degree Marks – 30% and,
Personal Interview – 20%

That candidate who doesn’t have reasonable marks in entrance test like GATE, UGC –NET and SLET will have to give NCU PhD Entrance Test known as NPET and will have to score at least 50%.

NCU PhD Entrance Exam

The Entrance Test NPET is a 2 hours duration objective type test held from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM on the given date by the university.
The NPET is managed by the Controller of Examination at NCU University Campus.
Other information regarding room number shall be informed through the mail and after the entrance test, the personal interview will take place on the same day from 1:00 PM onwards.

A candidate can apply either online or offline.
Firstly, visit the official website of NCU University.
Download the application form or fill the Application form online.
Upload the required documents.
Pay the application fee of INR 100.
For offline application fee can be submitted in cash or through Demand Draft in the name of NCU University.
Submit the application form.

One of my friends studied at Chandigarh University (CU). According to him, CSE at CU is really good compared to other colleges of its level. CSE here is mainly popular for its placements. More than 100 companies participate in their placement program. Categories CSE at Chandigarh University Course Fee INR 7.24 lakh Placement Percentage 80% Highest CTC 16 LPA Average CTC 6 LPA Recruiting Companies Google, Amazon, Microsoft, Wipro, etc. They also have experienced faculty and management policies. They have also improved their hostel facilities and campus environment. All in all CU is a really good option for pursuing CSE.

Talking about B.Tech CSE, Sharda University can be considered a better choice than Northcap. It is a very well reputed institution in terms of opportunities and respective training sessions in technical sectors for the Global environment. Academics: Northcap University, which however is not as well ranked as Sharda University, is also incapable of providing the required amount of exposure as needed for the industrial sectors. On the contrary, Sharda University being a greater institution in itself has various tie-ups with other higher organizations and foreign universities. Faculty: Sharda University is bestowed with extremely friendly and highly professional professors which rather is the greater plus point for any respective stream. Northcap, as even mentioned by some of its students, comes up with a very poor record of having a group of inexperienced and unsupportive professors. The employability you will attain after pursuing B.Tech from Northcap is uncertain. Sharda University has recorded well for the past few years to provide a good deployment rate in the B.Tech branch. On the upper hand, various organizations like IBM, TCS, Tech Mahindra, and more have arrived occasionally for campus recruitment every particular year, and students of the university are offered 2 LPA to 5 LPA without hesitation.
