VIDYASAGAR UNIVERSITY is a UGC recognized, AICTE approved & ‘B’ grade University as accredited by NAAC, imparting professional /nonprofessional education, research and training. In addition to its several campuses, the university has around 100 affiliated colleges and 12 study centres for distance education.

In addition to various undergraduate and postgraduate courses, Vidyasagar University offers Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) to its students every year. Only candidates with the relevant qualification can register for the B.Ed programme.

Candidates will be shortlisted for admission through counselling conducted by the central selection committee for B.Ed admissions. Candidates can register themselves to the above mentioned course by submitting online application form along with the fee amount Rs. 280/- within the stipulated time. Eligibility

Candidate must possess bachelors or master’s degree with at least 50% aggregate of marks and 45% marks (for SC/ST category candidates)
Candidate should have studied Arts/Science/Commerce in his/her bachelors or masters degree with two subjects at the degree level of the available method subjects (Bengali, English, History, Sanskrit, Economics, Geography, Mathematics, Life Science, Physical Science, Work Education, and Education)
The age of the candidate should not be more than 38 years as on June 30

Admission Process

Selection of the candidates to the above mentioned course will be done on the basis of counselling conducted by central selection committee for B.Ed admissions.

How To Apply?

Candidates can register through the online application process available at the university website for admission to B.Ed. programme. Upon registration, candidates will be asked to fill the personal details and academic details
Along with completed applications, candidates must submit the application fee of Rs. 280/- through the available online payment modes. Candidates can pay the application fee through Online Debit card/ Credit card/ Netbanking.
Candidate must take the printout of the completely filled-in applications along with copy of online fees receipt for subsequent use

Self-Attested copy of Vidyasagar University Registration Certificate. (Both Side) if the candidate apply as VU applicants.

Reservation

Seats reservation for SC/ST/PH candidates is as per Government Rules.
3% seats will be reserved for physically handicapped category which will be reserved separately in GEN, SC & ST Category

Ques. What subjects will I study as part of the B.Ed course at Vidyasagar University?

There will be 5 subjects in the first year to study in which 3 subjects are common whereas the rest 2 subjects are pedagogic (teaching subjects) that are taken by students out of given choices as per NCTE (National council for teaching education) norms. Calcutta University offers some of the best education possible in the country. It consistently maintains an admirable ranking among the top universities in India. Your CV can get a big boost if you opt for the University of Calcutta. There are other institutes in Kolkata that are just as good as CU such as Presidency University, Jadavpur University St. Xavier’s College (Autonomous). Keep an eye on them as well and do not restrict yourself only to CU. Engage yourselves in the various activities that will take place wherever you end up getting admission. The more proactive you are, the more your resume will attract potential employers. Vidyasagar University has more expertise in tribal culture and literature. It is not the focus of urban academics. Keep in mind that the marking scheme of the University of Calcutta is very rigid.

Like everything in the world, distance education also has both advantages and disadvantages of its own. Let me discuss some of them I found out while doing some research online. Advantages Except for the exam time schedule, you can make your own routine for preparing your topics for the exams. Another advantage of distance education is that you will not be distracted by the hubbub that usually happens in a classroom. You will also not be burdened by the necessity to participate in the events. If you are employed, then you can work as well as pursue your course. Disadvantages A glaring drawback of distance education is that you will not be able to interact with your peers, seniors, faculty, etc. You might not be able to hone your skills in communication, writing, and interaction. You can, however, engage in conversations with your peers during the weekend classes or joint study sessions. Some government institutions, unfortunately, do not employ students who complete their courses through distance education. This prejudice against students who complete their course through distance learning can be seen a lot, but some also provide opportunities to them based on their capabilities.

MAKAUT colleges are better for MBA, compared to Vidyasagar University. In West Bengal, MAKAUT brand name is more recognized. It offers better placement opportunities for MBA as well. Infosys, TCS, Accenture, Cognizant, etc. visit MAKAUT placements frequently. The highest CTC received by the students is around INR 19 LPA. MAKAUT has many tie-ups with companies, so it's easier to get placements, and internships.
