Course Description

RBU MA admission 2023 are going to commence soon. Admission to the program will be granted on the basis of marks securedin the qualifying examination. Rabindra Bharati University offers full-time Master of Arts (MA) programs across 22 specializations under Arts, Fine Arts, and Visual Arts for a duration of 2 years. The specializations include English, Bengali, Economics, Education, History, Political Science, Philosophy, Sanskrit, Mathematics, Hindi, Sociology, ENVS, Geography, HR and HD, Sangeet, Vocal Music, Dance, Instrumental Music, Mass and Communication Geography, Musicology and Museology and Environmental Studies. The minimum eligibility to apply for RBU MA is a BA degree in relevant discipline from a recognized University. However, students are selected based on the marks obtained in the graduation degree. RBU MA Eligibility Criteria

Candidates seeking MA admission must have passed BA (Hons)/B.Sc. (Hons) in the allied/concerned subject from any UGC recognized university
For admission to the courses under the Arts department, candidates must have obtained 55% marks

RBU MA Admission Guidelines

Admissions to the MA courses are granted on the basis of marks obtained in the graduation degree

RBU MA Course Details

All the departments of fine and visual arts focus on the teaching programs so that the students can excel in the relevant subject. In the branch of English, efforts are taken to improve knowledge about the literature through communication, in drama students are well explained and taught about acting, in music students are encouraged to learn Carnatic and Hindustani Music and so on. All the departments ensure that the students become real professionals in their branches.

The course extends for four semesters with six months in each. Semester examinations are held four times at the end of each semester.

Every course is awarded a total of 50 marks. Students ought to score a minimum of 40% marks to secure a degree.

Ques. Should I submit the MA application form to the RBU campus?

Ans. No, you have to fill in all the details online and do the payment. Take a screenshot of it and have it for further reference. So it is enough if you submit it online. You will be called upon to campus only once you are selected for the Entrance exam.

Ques. What are the career opportunities after MA from RBU?

Ans. You have lots of opportunities available in the world today. With MA in any discipline, you are going to excel in a program of arts. So you can initiate a show on your own or get placed somewhere in the top most companies or a lecturer or you can even continue your higher studies. Remember one thing a degree owned is never going to get wasted further it helps you have a career anywhere.

Ques. Is the evaluation of MA tough in RBU?

Ans. No, it’s not tough. You need to write your exams well which are awarded 40 marks out of 50 marks. The remaining 10 marks are awarded the Internal assessment marks.

Ques. How are the faculties of the MA course at RBU?

Ans. The faculties in every department are highly educated, knowledgeable to deliver quality education

Ques. Can I take up MA at RBU after my UG degree in Engineering?

Ans. No, it’s highly impossible. Because the branches offered in RBU are totally involved with arts, fine arts, and visual arts. So the students must have a UG degree in a relevant discipline. The engineering branch is not offered in RBU so you cannot apply for MA in RBU.

Rabindra Bharati University (RBU) in Kolkata is one of the oldest and the most reputed. The ambience of this institute is slightly different from the usual institutions. It has a more cultural vibe, as it is heavily inspired by the life and works of Rabindranath Tagore. The admission here is completely merit based. The faculty members are highly experienced in their respective fields, some even having 20 years of teaching experience. The departments have an air of politics. Here students are encouraged to be more culturally active and should blend in with the crowd. The college is very active when it comes to cultural fests, events, etc. Dancing, singing, acting and recitation are the ways they convey their creativity and authenticity to everyone. Academically, they prefer students to mug up theories rather than actually understanding the concept. The curriculum is not updated considering latest trends. If you are a very creative and cultural person you can join RBU. But if you expect placements in reputed companies based more on technical works then this is not the right place for you.

No. Rabindra Bharati University (RBU) and Vishwa Bharati University are not the same. They are two separate universities. RBU is a state university whereas Visva Bharati is a central university. They are not related to each other in terms of administration but share the same ideologies and culture. RBU main campus is situated in Jorasanko, the ancestral house of Rabindranath Tagore. Visva Bharati was founded by Tagore in an estate of Bolpur owned by his father Maharshi Debendranath Tagore.

Choosing between Rabindra Bharati University (RBU) and Calcutta University (CU), is not justified, as they are both reputed institutions and have more or less the same performance. Their curriculum will be different, along with their teaching style. But both will provide you with similar opportunities after graduation. CU students claim that it is very difficult to score good marks here, but since the semester system started in CU, it has become manageable. So choose the college you feel suits all your requirements, then go for the one. The one thing better in CU is the environment, because RBU has been in constant disputes and political turmoil, which sometimes hampers regular classwork.

Comparing universities is not a very good idea. Calcutta University (CU) and Rabindra Bharati University (RBU) are reputed institutions. The faculties here are well experienced but not punctual, they often leave most of the topics for the students to figure it out themselves. The administration of these institutions are slow and most of the time do not cater to the students' demands. Students who genuinely wanted to learn something will be disappointed, as seeking knowledge is not encouraged. Students are said to mug up theories than to actually understand the concepts. Booth colleges are infamous for their scoring system. Students claim their answer sheets are not checked properly. So, if you are willing to study in any one of the institutions, you should remember that your effort and dedication will finally matter and not the name of the college.
