Course Curriculum Overview:

I decided to pursue a master's in economics since being an economics student I have always been fascinated by this subject and wanted to pursue my career in this field. There are 4 teachers teaching us 70 students but there are some guest faculty who come to teach some specific portions of the subject either from the Delhi campus or from outside. The faculty teaching us are very well versed in their subjects. In case of doubts, we can either ask them after their class or mail them. Collective doubts are addressed in the classroom itself. The overall teaching method is quite effective and efficient. We had end-term exams in January and they were moderate as some questions were based on the past year itself. I think if one has concept clarity one would be able to pass it.

Indian Institute of Foreign Trade - [IIFT]: 32 answered questions

Ques
What is the difference between IIFT Delhi and IIFT Kolkata in terms of quality of education, study environment, and placements?

● Top Answer By Sreeja Gupta on 23 Feb 22

Ans
Here are a few factors that differentiate IIFT Delhi and IIFT Kolkata campuses. Location is certainly a differentiating factor between the Delhi campus and the Kolkata campus. Students of Delhi campus get more exposure due to the proximity to the mainstem industry and to Gurgaon’s Cybercity. But the student body of IIFT Kolkata goes the extra mile to make sure this is changing. Although the faculty of the Delhi campus is more diverse, the environment on Kolkata campus is more conducive for research.  The Delhi campus has the WTO center, while there is a Center for North Eastern Studies (CeNEST) on the Kolkata campus. Although it’s not often talked about, there is a differentiation between placements at both campuses. However, IIFT Kolkata is catching up quickly in terms of placement numbers.  As established earlier, the Delhi campus has its advantages, but IIFT Kolkata is striving hard to bridge the gap.

Ques
How good is the newly built IIFT Kolkata campus?

● Top Answer By Lagan Aarya on 04 Nov 22

Ans
IIFT Kolkata campus was built in 2016 and is designed to meet the needs of students while also making them feel at home. Every class is air-conditioned and well-equipped. The library is well-kept, and you can access many journals and research papers via the college's Wi-Fi. Except for placements, when Kolkata students travel to Delhi, IIFT Kolkata and IIFT Delhi never meet. Even so, by the time Kolkata students arrived in Delhi, more than 40 students had been placed in their summer companies. Delhi students are the first to arrive at interviews, and most companies complete their selections before Kolkata students arrive. The Placement Committee offers to choose students and push them through the processes that impress them within the first two months. As a result, only those who are good at standing out, with or without doing any work, have a chance to work for a good company. IIFT Kolkata campus is cutting-edge, with all the amenities and vibrant cultural life. IIFT Kolkata has placements that are similar to IIFT Delhi because both campuses have common placements, there is no discrimination, and the faculties are the same for both campuses.

Ques
What is the procedure of the wait-list movement for IIFT Kolkata selected students to get into IIFT Delhi?

● Top Answer By Kishan Menon on 15 Jun 22

Ans
If you are waitlisted for IIFT Delhi, you will need to pay a certain fee to reserve your seat. You will move up the list, as the students ranked higher than you opt-out.  So, to simplify, there are students who got selected for IIFT Delhi, students who are selected for IIFT Kolkata, and students who are waitlisted. As a student who got admission to IIFT Delhi opts out, the first student is the list of students admitted to IIFT Kolkata moves to the Delhi list, and consequently the first students on the waiting list get into the IIFT Kolkata list.  The waitlist starts moving after reputed B-School such as IIM ABCL, XLRI, FMS, JBIMS announces their results.

Ques
How is the student life at IIFT Delhi and Kolkata?

● Top Answer By Sunidhi Rastogi on 23 Aug 22

Ans
Life at IIFT Delhi and IIFT Kolkata isn’t much different than any other B-Schools in the country. The first trimester will go by in a blur with multiple assignments, guest lectures, summer placement prep,  etc. IIFT follows a regular schedule. There may be days with classes from 9 am to 9 pm. You will need to do your assignments, prepare case studies, study for quizzes, and also do extra-curricular activities.  Life outside academics is more fun in Delhi. There are more places to explore nearby the campus.

Ques
Could you please provide unbiased reviews of MDI, NITIE and IIFT Kolkata?

● Top Answer By Sashank Arora on 26 Mar 21

Ans
Most of the people have suggested that overall all the three colleges are good and you will not be facing any problem if you take admission in any one of them. The NITIE College is good operations management, MDI is good for General management and Human resource management and IIFT is good for International trade. So, it depends upon you which branch you are interested in. The overall reviews of these colleges are as follows: MDI: This college is fairly consistent in getting top 10 rankings.  There are various kinds of live projects in the college which will help you in understanding the working culture in the corporate industry. Some of this live project will also allow formulating business strategies.  You will be having access to great infrastructure such as Bloomberg terminal and EuroMonitor database.  Along with the vibrant campus you will also be getting right guidance from Professors like Prof Bakshi , Prof Chatterjee and Prof. Mitra who will help you in getting the right path. You will also be getting great placement opportunities in various fields. NITIE: Operations management in this college is very good.  It is located in Mumbai and because of this location that will get lots of live projects in the industries.  The college also provides good placement in the field of supply chain management, operations management, etc.  This college also has a good alumni base. There is not much flexibility in the placements and the rest depends upon you. IIFT Kolkata: It is one of the greatest colleges with economics and trade as its pillars.  If you are looking for branches like international business and operations management then this is the best college.  There is a slight disadvantage between Kolkata and Delhi branches but the placements in both locations are similar. The comparison table of MDI, NITIE, and IIFT Kolkata are as follows: MDI NITIE IIFT Kolkata Placement percentage 100% 100% 100% Highest Package 40.5 Lakhs 46.50 Lakhs 45.45 Lakhs Average package 22.05 Lakhs 20.55 Lakhs 29.00 Lakhs Overall IIFT-K is only good for trade and economics.
