Course Description

VELS University, Chennai offers admission to MBA programme with 5 specializations in it. Admission will be based on Vels Entrance Exam (VEE) and marks secured in the qualifying examination conducted by university. CAT/MAT/XAT qualified candidate will be exempted from the entrance exam.

Bachelor degree holder in any stream can apply for admission.

Application form can be filled online through the official website of VELS University (www.velsuniv.ac.in/online-application.asp). Application fee of INR 500/- can be paid through Net Banking/Credit/Debit Card.

M.B.A. Integrated ( 5 Years)	10+2 / equivalent with minimum of 50% amrks secured in the qualifying examination from a recognised university
M.B.A. Specialization in (Finance, HR, Marketing, Systems & Production) M.B.A. Logistics & Shipping Management M.B.A. Logistics & Supply Chain Management	Any Bachelor Degree holder with 50% marks secured. Apperaing candidates can also apply for entrance examination
M.B.A. Business Analytics	B.Tech / B.E in any discipline, B.Sc (Maths Statistics), BBA, BBM, BA (Economics / Maths, B.Com, BCA, B.Sc Computer Science with marks, pass with minimum 50% marks from a recognized University 10+2+3 pattern of Education

Selection Process

Admission will be based on the VEE/CAT/MAT/XAT and marks secured in the qualifying examination.

CAT/MAT/XAT qualified candidates will be exempted from VEE.
Merit list will be uploaded by the university.
Selected candidates will be called for document verification and payment of programme fee.

Indian Maritime University (IMU) Chennai is obviously better than Vels University. It has a brand of its own and is known outside of Chennai as well. Vels University, on the other hand, is just like any other university and anyone hardly outside Chennai even knows about it. The study environment at Vels University is not at all good though other facilities are good to decent. I would say that if you want to relax and just want a degree after 3-4 years of enjoyment, go to Vels University. Otherwise, IMU Chennai is the one to go for.

The VELS University is a private university located in Pallavaram, a suburb of Chennai. Recently, it has completed 25 years of an amazing journey. It offers various branches and is available in almost all courses where you can find your dream and improve your skill. You will truly enjoy your experience at the university. You will learn discipline, enhance your skills, and improve your knowledge over the 4 years of the learning period. The faculty members are friendly and supportive. A great deal of importance is given to attendance. Most importantly, VELS University follows a dress code as you will not be allowed to wear jeans, t-shirts, leggings, piercing, etc.

Veltech University is the best option among these. It has a Choice based credit system. Students are given the freedom to choose subjects according to their interests. Veltech has many tie-ups and collaborations with foreign universities. As a student of the university, you will get good exposure and opportunities. Veltech placements are good, especially for branches like CSE and Electronics. The average CTC for the institute is around INR 4.32 LPA.

Doing an MCA from Vels University will not be worth it. The college will add nothing to your professional career and the degree will become just another degree which I do not think should be your intention especially when going for a master’s degree. Following are a few points I would like to mention – Infrastructure: The campus is very small and you can literally cover the whole campus within a few minutes. You will not enjoy good campus life. Education: There are some extremely talented and experienced teachers. However, very few can guide you properly towards your goal properly. Placement: This is one of the biggest disappointments as not even 10 companies visit the campus even though they claim a 100% placement record. Location: It is located at Pallavaram and it is still close to the bus and railway stations. So this is one of the few things I like about the college. Sports: The football team of the university regularly win trophies at various tournaments. If you are still convinced about joining this college then go ahead but I would certainly not suggest you for the same.

The university has all modern conveniences, such as air-conditioned classrooms/laboratories, a fine canteen, and a pleasant environment. I have a few friends from Vel Tech University and here is their insight regarding the placements at the institute. Most companies that come for placements at the institute are from the IT sector.
