Applicants applying for admission to the MBA program must have fulfilled both the eligibility criterion for their application to be eligible.

The candidate should have passed a Bachelor’s degree with a minimum duration of 3 years.
The candidate should have obtained 50% marks in the last qualifying examination.

A relaxation of 5% is given to the candidates belonging to the reserved category.

Application Process for NRI/PIO Candidates:

Candidates studying in India or abroad may apply for admission under the NRI/PIO/Children of Indian Workers in Gulf countries/ Foreign National Category as per the regulation of the Indian government.

The eligibility criteria for the candidates are as follows:

Pass in Higher Secondary Examination or equivalent with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with one of the following subjects: Chemistry/ Bio-Technology/ Computer Science/ Biology or equivalent.
Applicants for admissions under the NRI quota shall not have completed 21 years of age as of the 1st July of the respective academic year.
NRI financially supporting the candidates must be blood relation such as their parent, sibling(s) or Uncle, (Father’s Brothers or Mother’s brother) and Aunty (Mother’s Sister or Father’s Sister) only, residing abroad.

Periyar Maniammai Institute of Science & Technology MBA Course Details

The two-year program offered by the university aims to instil graduates with important and industry-relevant skills. These include problem-solving, critical thinking, communication, project management and finance, collaborative and multidisciplinary work and many more.

The 1st-semester coursework has 27 credits.
The 2nd-semester coursework has 26 credits.
From the 3rd semester, candidates are given a chance to choose their own electives.
Each elective holds a weight of 12 credits each. Since candidates have to opt for dual specialization, the 3rd-semester course work has total 24 credits.
The 4th semester has total credits of 26 credits and lasts for 26 weeks.

PMU is similar to other deemed-to-be universities. It offers really good programs and their Alumni network spreads far and wide. UGC issues orders every now and then and the intake of students is based on the principle of social justice i.eMerit and students from different backgrounds join in. There is both an advantage and a few disadvantages, which I am listing below:

Advantages: The Atmosphere is student friendly with a need based curriculum for students.

Disadvantages: The administrator resides at Chennai and you will face issues with speedy resolution and the placement needs to be pushed.

This public trust institute also takes care of social needs, through the ‘Periyar Pura’ scheme shared by Dr A.P.J. Abdul Kalam for women and the marginalised sections of the society.
