Chennai Mathematical Institute is a centre of excellence for teaching and research in the mathematical sciences. Founded in 1989 as part of the SPIC Science Foundation, it has been an autonomous institute since 1996.
The institute offers various courses at undergraduate, postgraduate and research level to the students who want to pursue their career in the field of Mathematics, Computer Science and Physics.
Admission to Chennai Mathematical Institute is based on the marks scored in the entrance test conducted by the university. For PG and Ph.D. courses, eligible candidates need to appear in the entrance test and personal interview.
A mechanism is followed in order to ensure reservation for Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), Other Backward Classes (OBC) and Physically Challenged (PC) categories as per the policy of the Government of India (GoI).
