One of my friends is an alumnus of Sikkim Manipal University. He joined the Photography club as an overly enthusiastic fresher with a 2-megapixel camera and later on forgot all about it for the rest of 4 years of his course. Eventually, he joined several other clubs that made his time at the institute quite enjoyable.
Here’s the list of Clubs at Sikkim Manipal University.
Technical Clubs:
Non-Technical Clubs:
Additionally, there are a number of new initiatives like Manipal University Technology Business Incubator (MUTBI), Formula Manipal, SolarMobil, Parikshit, MTTN, etc.
It's equally advantageous to be a part of a working group in a couple of clubs. You should try to actively participate hinged on your desires and availability. Although it is not needed, it is beneficial to have a diverse set of experiences to highlight on your CV, especially during placements and applications to post-BTech programs.
A distance MBA from Sikkim Manipal University is worth the time and money invested. SMU distance MBA is UGC-DEB recognized and accepted in the industry. The institute offers placement help and guidance to students. According to recent highlights of Sikkim Manipal University placements, distance MBA has a placement average of 80%. Companies like IBM, Amazon, etc. recruit from the institute.
SMIT cutoff for CSE stays around 19000. So, you will have a good chance of getting CSE. Even if you don’t get CSE, during the first round of counseling, you will have a good chance of getting admission during the waiting list counseling. Students applying for the Sikkim campus are less in number, so you have a good chance of getting admission.
Sikkim Manipal University is a decent institute, with a diverse crowd, and some excellent placement records. The points below are a brief overview of all considerable aspects of Sikkim Manipal University.

There may be several problems that you may face in SMIT through the course of 4 years, but in the end, everything comes into place. Therefore, students are left with no regrets, getting an immense set of opportunities from SMIT.
No, the administration is not particularly the best at Sikkim Manipal University. I know a few people from the institute and here is what they had to say about the institute.
This is everything that you should be aware of before enlisting at Sikkim Manipal University.
Both IGNOU and Sikkim Manipal University are good options for MBA. But considering the fact that you are a working professional, you need to keep some points in mind regarding both universities.
IGNOU-
Less fees structure as compared to Manipal University
Extensive study material
Haa branches worldwide
A large number of regional centres
Has a lot of value is the best open university in the world.
Does not facilitate online fee submission
Does not provide placements
Sikkim Manipal University-
It offers an app from which you can download your textbooks, assignments, and materials
Doubts can be cleared online from a registered student account.
They will give you up-to-date notifications regarding exams, imp dates, materials, and placements via mail
Any queries will be handled by the Sikkim University team quickly and professionally.
Online payment of fees is available
Offers placements for those who have completed their graduation.
All exams are online (theory and objective both)
Less descriptive study material
You can see the pros of Sikkim Manipal University are more than those of IGNOU. Being a working professional, Sikkim University offers you better features than IGNOU.
Yes, you can migrate to Canada or any other country even if you have any degree from SMU. The sole criteria for this is not a degree and you must fulfill other eligibility as well.
The Comprehensive Ranking System for Canadian immigration is not based on whether you have a regular degree or a distance degree, given that the university must be recognized.
SMU is duly recognized by UGC for ODL programs. You can easily apply to Canada. Go for the ECA process at ICAS as they evaluate the application process at SMU. The management authorities are very supportive and they will help you in getting the transcripts.
Both Sikkim Manipal and Manipal University Jaipur are very popular institutes and a lot of students across the country apply for admissions in these institutes. But among these two, choosing Manipal University Jaipur will be a better option especially if you're from North or Central India.
Categories | Manipal University Jaipur |
Course Fee | 3.58-11.86 lakh |
Highest CTC | 12 LPA |
Average CTC | 4 LPA |
Recruiting Companies | Microsoft, Wipro, TCS, HP, etc. |
Hence, choosing Manipal University Jaipur will be a better option as the campus life offered is much better and there is no chaos or fights among the students like Sikkim Manipal.
Manipal University which is based out in Karnataka is the parent organization of Sikkim Manipal University. Manipal University (MU) is well ahead of Sikkim Manipal University (SMU) in terms of placement quality, infrastructure, faculty, and other factors.
Many people, on the other hand, believe that Sikkim Manipal is the parent organization of Manipal University in Karnataka. Some people have never heard of the Manipal University of Karnataka, but thanks to aggressive marketing, everyone has heard of SMU.
A degree from SMU is worth only half as much as a degree from Manipal University in Karnataka. However, I know some folks who attended SMU and are doing rather well, owing to their abilities rather than the college they chose.
In general, SMU is not a great option for your studies. The remote learning or online MBA program, which is promoted and marketed significantly on television, is not nearly as beneficial as it appears. The quality of students who have pursued an MBA program is not up to par, as they lack a degree of confidence and intelligence. So, if you have other possibilities, I would advise you to not choose SMU as it would not prove to be a wise career choice for you.
The MBA program at SMU is ranked amongst the top 10% of MBA programs in India, and the MBA program at LPU is ranked 40th in India by the Outlook 2020. SMU has a total of 25 MBA courses, and LPU has around 8.
The total fee for SMU ranges between 1-4 lakhs with 60 seats in the general MBA course. The total fee for LPU ranges between 4-6 lakhs, with 360 seats for the general MBA and 20-30 seats in the other courses.
Admission:
SMU:
Candidates need to sit for the university entrance examination and score 45% in the test.
Scores from CAT/CMAT/GMAT/IGNOU/SNAP/XAT are also accepted.
LPU:
CAT/XAT/CMAT/GMAT/MAT scores are accepted.
Candidates need 55% in their graduate-level program to be eligible for an MBA in LPU.
Placements
SMU:
90% of students get placed.
A total of 378 students received over 400 job offers in 2020.
The highest salary is 18 LPA, and the lowest is around 5 LPA.
Some of the companies that came to recruit are Wells Fargo, Ixia, Think and Learn, Bosch, Amazon, IBM, and Dell.
LPU:
Around 90% of students get placed at LPU.
The average salary ranges between 5 LPA-6 LPA, the highest is around 48 LPA, and the lowest is around 3 LPA.
Companies like Amazon, Flipkart, TCS, Infosys, and Google come for recruitment.
Infrastructure:
SMU has a top-notch infrastructure with a hostel, Wi-Fi, library, and all the basic facilities.
LPU also has a really good infrastructure with spacious classrooms, updated libraries, and numerous sports facilities.
The course curriculums at both universities are upgraded regularly according to the industry demands. Students need to take into account their course of choice, mode of learning, and tuition fee for their course to make a decision.
