SMU East Sikkim MBA Eligibility Criteria

Bachelor’s degree in any discipline with 50% marks (45% marks for reserved category)
Candidates will be selected based on performance in MAT / CAT / University Entrance Test

SMU East Sikkim MBA Admission

Both regular distance courses are offered for MBA. A distance MBA course from the institution ensures that the students can get managerial skill in their dedicated field of study without worrying about attending regular classes. As it is already known, CAT/ MAT/ University Entrance Test are national level entrance examinations which consist of various sections like Quantitative Aptitude, English and Logical & Verbal Reasoning which needs to be clear after satisfying the basic eligibility criteria in order to get admission into MBA. The application process takes place through online as follows:

Candidates should apply to MAT/ CAT/ Univerity Entrance Test depending upon the entrance needed for the opted course.
They have to secure certain cutoff percentile/ marks.
Then, the candidates should apply to the institution on the prescribed form by quoting their concerned entrance score.
Finally, the Candidates will be selected based on their performance in Group Discussions and interviews after shortlisting through entrance score.

SMU East Sikkim MBA Cutoff

Cutoff for the admission differs every year on a number of factors like the number of applicants, the number of seats available in the institution, the performance of the candidates, and the cutoff/ ranking trends of the previous years. Admissions to MBA are restricted by a high cutoff which is usually 85 for those who took XAT and 600 for those who sat for MAT. Once a candidate clears the cutoff, they still have to appear for an interview and a group discussion which would shortlist them to proceed further.

Since not all management entrance exams are not yet over this year, cut offs are yet to be finalized. Cut off for previous year is tabulated below.

It offers a 2-year MBA program in Marketing Management, Finance Management, Human Resource Management, and Information System Management. All the courses are divided into 4 semesters with each subject carrying 4 credit points. MBA Examinations are conducted at the completion of each semester. Question papers consist of both objective type and detail type questions. Students can opt for either online or offline examination based on their choice. Examinations are conducted at specific prometric venues at stipulated date and time.

The Placement cell helps to find job opportunities for the graduating students and also supports in providing Summer Internships as well. Summer Internships are held between April to June in which Students have to undergo 8-10 months of internship with any company that recruits them. One of my friends is an alumnus of Sikkim Manipal University. He joined the Photography club as an overly enthusiastic fresher with a 2-megapixel camera and later on forgot all about it for the rest of 4 years of his course. No, the administration is not particularly the best at Sikkim Manipal University. I know a few people from the institute and here is what they had to say about the institute. There is a huge locational disadvantage of the university, given the constant issues faced by students. Recently, they have installed an ATM machine. The mess of the institute is not in its best condition. It is run by local people. They do not especially get concerned about the complaints students usually submit. The quality of food is not good even though they take exorbitant amounts of money for the food. The administration doesn’t take the necessary steps to resolve the issues raised by students. According to one of my friends from the CSE department they were not allowed to take industrial training from other companies. The professors are not gonna invest much of their time in your project. However, your project may get rejected for silly mistakes. Recently, in terms of placement, TCS rejected SMIT, while Amazon only hired students as their interns. The placement scenario is not good. This is everything that you should be aware of before enlisting at Sikkim Manipal University.

SMU is duly recognized by UGC for ODL programs. You can easily apply to Canada. Go for the ECA process at ICAS as they evaluate the application process at SMU. Manipal University (MU) is well ahead of Sikkim Manipal University (SMU) in terms of placement quality, infrastructure, faculty, and other factors. Many people, on the other hand, believe that Sikkim Manipal is the parent organization of Manipal University in Karnataka. Some people have never heard of the Manipal University of Karnataka, but thanks to aggressive marketing, everyone has heard of SMU. A degree from SMU is worth only half as much as a degree from Manipal University in Karnataka. However, I know some folks who attended SMU and are doing rather well, owing to their abilities rather than the college they chose. In general, SMU is not a great option for your studies. The remote learning or online MBA program, which is promoted and marketed significantly on television, is not nearly as beneficial as it appears. SMU has a total of 25 MBA courses, and LPU has around 8. The total fee for SMU ranges between 1-4 lakhs with 60 seats in the general MBA course. The total fee for LPU ranges between 4-6 lakhs, with 360 seats for the general MBA and 20-30 seats in the other courses. Admission: SMU: Candidates need to sit for the university entrance examination and score 45% in the test. Scores from CAT/CMAT/GMAT/IGNOU/SNAP/XAT are also accepted. COEP is better among these. It is one of the oldest and most well-reputed technological institutes in the country. COEP placements are excellent. The median CTC for the institute is around INR 5 LPA. During the recent placement, students received the highest CTC of around INR 7.1 LPA. COEP fees are more affordable. The course fee for a B.Tech is around INR 1.62 Lakhs. So, the ROI is good.
