Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University is a veterinary university in Ludhiana, Punjab. This college is popularly known as GADVASU Ludhiana. It was established on 9th of August 2005, its main aim was to promote livestock production in the society, also to spread knowledge on health-related and prevention of diseases through integrated teaching and extension programs.

For admissions in UG courses, candidates will be selected on merit basis.
And for admissions in PG courses, candidates will be selected via AIEEA PG entrance exam.
For UG courses, the minimum qualification is 10+2 or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English with minimum 50% aggregate marks.
For PG courses, the minimum qualification is a bachelor's degree in a relevant field with a minimum CGPA of 6.00 (out of 10.00).

GADVASU B.Tech Eligibility Criteria

The candidates interested to take admission in B.tech courses offered by GADVASU must have a 10+2 passing certificate.
Those belonging to medical and non-medical streams can apply for the courses.

GADVASU B.Tech Selection Process

The selection of the candidates is based on the merit of the candidates. Those who have Mathematics as a compulsory subject in 10+2 exams will be given priority.

PG Admissions to Inservice Candidates

The minimum requirement for admission to any of the PG courses for an in-service candidate in any of the constituent colleges of GADVASU is an Overall Grade Point Average (OGPA) of 5.50 (out of 10.00), along with the minimum of two years of professional work experience (post the graduation).

Candidates can seek admission for any of the M V Sc / M Sc / M Tech programs, on the basis of the qualifying degree they had in their graduation.

PhD Admissions to Inservice Candidates

Similarly, the minimum requirement for admission to PhD program for an in-service candidate in any of the constituent college of GADVASU is candidate must be an employee of a University or National Institute or Punjab government or UT of Chandigarh or Central government, with a minimum of five years of professional Teaching / Research experience in the relevant field.

Candidates can seek admission for any of the M V Sc / M Sc / M Tech programs, on the basis of the qualifying degree they had in their graduation.

How to Apply for GADVASU?

There are several scholarships offered by Guru Angad Dev Veterinary And Animal Sciences University Scholarships and Funding, such as

University Scholarships:

These scholarships are awarded to meritorious students of UG programs on the basis of their performances in the UG entrance exams about Rs. 500 per month.

National Talent Scholarships:

The ICAR/VCI awards these merit scholarships in UG and PG programs for the full duration of the degree program. The amount for the scholarship is about Rs.2000 per month for UG students and Rs. 3000 per month for PG students.

Sports Scholarships

These scholarships are awarded on the basis of sports activities of students, the number of scholarships for major games is four i.e. for Hockey, Football, Cricket, and Athletics. The amount for these scholarships is about Rs 350 per month.

Ques. What is the enrollment procedure for students in various programs?

Ans. GADVASU itself conducts entrance exams for admission into PG programs, the admission test dates are announced prior to the exam and admissions are taken on the basis of merit list prepared on entrance tests’ scores. For UG programs, a merit list is announced on the basis of students' score in previous qualifications.

I read in some posts that IVRI is not good enough for UG for the best skills, but it is good for PG and research only. They said that TANUVAS, GB Pant, GADVASU, etc. are good UG. Is it true?

If talking about IVRI, then there are over 240 scientists conducting research work in different fields. Here are some important facts that you may find useful: If these are the same candidates, pursuing several research projects and academic activities in the PG course, then they also do the same for UG courses as well. Mainly, the reason behind this is the clinic was extended and also offered several amenities when the UG courses were first introduced in IVRI. The infrastructure of IVRI is well established. One of my friends, who belonged from the Physiology department once mentioned having access to over 17 microscopes for a student limit of around 24. The fee program of IVRI is minimal, with the provision of a variety of scholarship options. The hostels, library, and mess are equally satisfactory. There are no strict restrictions imposed upon students. During your stay, you will be part of having a great exposure, while still greatly having access to each lab and scientists conducting research works. Every batch has maintained the legacy of the institute by evidently showcasing better results each time. There are several students who secured good scores in the JRF exams, while a few students obtained seats in IVRI again through AIQ ICAR. One of the seniors has recently also established a successful startup after acquiring a grant of 30 lacs from IVRI itself. There are students who also recently qualified for the Rajasthan VO examination by both securing high scores in the written test and exams other than that. According to the recent fee structure, the annual course fee for BVSc & AH is INR 90,255. Including hostel fees, it will cost you around 1.1 lakh per year. Mess charges are separate. GADVASU offers many scholarships to students. Some of the scholarships offered include merit-based scholarships, sports scholarships, ex-serviceman scholarships, etc. There are also separate scholarships if you are applying through AIQ.

According to him, back then, any student who got admission in college other than home state through AIQ was given a scholarship of INR 3000 per month.
