The minimum eligibility qualification for admission to Doctoral programme shall be :
- An OCPA/ OGPA of 6.50/ 10.00 or 3.25/ 5.00 or 2.60/ 4.00 or 60% marks (where grade points are not awarded) for Gen./ OBC category (5.50/ 10.00 or 2.75/ 5.00 or 2.20/ 4.00 or 50% marks for SC/ ST/ Person with Benchmark Disability category) at the post graduation level (as shown against respective discipline) from a university established by law in India.
OR
- The candidate should have passed Master’s degree in the concerned discipline/subject with B.Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture/ Horticulture/ Forestry /Sericulture/B.Sc. Agriculture/ Horticulture/Forestry /Sericulture (4/5/6 years programmes only).
OR
- A degree of a foreign University (with at least ‘B’ grade or its equivalent) recognized as equivalent for the purpose by the University with good knowledge of English.
- Selection is based on the Merit of the Entrance Test conducted by the University.
NOTE:
- Only those candidates who have passed their qualifying examination from ICAR accredited Universities/institutes shall be eligible for admission in doctoral programme.
- The in-service candidate selected for admission to Doctoral Programme will be offered admission in the same subject in which he/ she has got the Master’s degree. The minimum qualifying marks for admission of in-service candidates to Doctoral programme shall be relaxed by 5%. However, 10% in case of Scheduled Caste/ Scheduled Tribe/ Persons with Benchmark Disability.

- Proof/Certificate of completion of eligibility criteria for the desired subject should be submitted including the OCPA/OGPA/Percentage marks.
- The applicants who are already enrolled for Masters degree program up to academic year 2015-16 can also enroll themselves for Ph.D program complying to the respective eligibility criteria for the same.
- The total number of seats and reservation of seats for the Masters as well as Ph.D courses is determined by the Academic Council, keeping a quota for HP bonafide, Kashmiri Migrants, in-service candidates, NRI/Foreign Nationals/Sports/Co-Curricular activities, Fellowship Awardees and Self-financing candidates.
- There is a 5% relaxation for in-service candidates belonging to the General category while SC/ST/DA candidates have a 10% relaxation in the total aggregate marks in Post graduation.
