Delhi University Admission Dates 2026

DU admission is handled through different routes for different programmes. UG and PG admission is mainly done through CUET and the Common Seat Allocation System. FMS Delhi MBA admission uses CAT, while the Faculty of Law admits students to integrated law courses through CLAT.

Delhi University Courses and Fees

Delhi University offers courses in humanities, social sciences, sciences, commerce, management, law, and health sciences through its faculties and departments. Fees differ by course, but many UG and PG programmes follow a government-subsidised fee structure.

DU also runs B.Tech in Information Technology and Mathematical Innovations at one constituent college. Other options include B.El.Ed, BPE, B.Voc, and certificate and diploma courses in foreign languages through the Department of Germanic and Romance Studies.

Delhi University Admission Process

Delhi University uses different admission methods for different course groups. CUET and CSAS are used for most UG and PG seats. FMS Delhi and the Faculty of Law follow separate exam-based selection systems.

UG Admission (BA, B.Sc, B.Com)

For all DU UG courses, students need a valid CUET UG score. Class 12 marks are checked only for eligibility and are not used to prepare the merit list. The process has three stages:

• Eligibility: Students must pass Class 12 from a recognised board. Course-wise subject rules apply. CUET UG papers must be taken only in subjects studied in Class 12.
• Phase 1: Register on the CSAS UG portal at ugadmission.uod.ac.in and lock programme preferences
• Phase 2: Fill college and programme choices
• Phase 3: Seats are allotted in two rounds, followed by spot rounds for vacant seats

Courses with heavy demand, such as B.Com Hons at leading colleges, see strong competition each year. DU does not release a fixed percentile cutoff in advance. Final seat allotment depends on the applicant pool and the preference order chosen by each student.

FMS Delhi MBA Admission

FMS Delhi prepares its shortlist through a composite CAT score. The weightage is 40% for VARC, 30% for DILR, and 30% for QA. Female applicants get 5 bonus marks at the shortlisting stage. For the 2026-28 batch, General Category candidates needed 99 percentile and above. Shortlisted students take part in SOP discussion, Extempore, and Personal Interview at the FMS Delhi campus. The final selection weightage is CAT score 50%, Class 10 marks 10%, Class 12 marks 10%, SOP 10%, Extempore 5%, and Personal Interview 15%.

Law Admission (BALLB Hons / BBA LLB Hons)

The Faculty of Law has only 60 integrated law seats across BALLB Hons and BBA LLB Hons. Selection is fully based on CLAT UG score. Students need Class 12 with 45% marks, while SC, ST, and PwBD students need 40%. Applications are submitted separately at law.uod.ac.in. These seats are not filled through CSAS. The next cycle opens in April 2027.

PG Admission (MA, M.Sc, M.Com)

DU PG admission requires a valid CUET PG score. Graduation marks are not used for merit ranking. After CUET PG results, students register on the CSAS-PG portal at pgadmission.uod.ac.in. Reservation rules of the central government apply to all programmes.

PhD Admission

For PhD admission in DU departments, students need either a CUET PG score or UGC-NET qualification, depending on the faculty. Each department releases its own rules for the research entrance test and interview every year.

Delhi University Placements

Delhi University placement results differ across its 77 constituent colleges and course groups. FMS Delhi releases combined placement data for its MBA programme. UG colleges such as SRCC, Hindu College, Miranda House, and Lady Shri Ram College have separate placement cells and publish their own figures.

For the 2024-26 batch, FMS Delhi reported the highest package at INR 1.1 CPA. The average package was INR 32.27 LPA for 289 graduating students. In the 2023-25 batch, the highest package was INR 101 LPA, the average package was INR 30.1 LPA, and 271 out of 294 participating students were placed.

Recruiters from consulting, finance, FMCG, and technology visit FMS Delhi. McKinsey, Bain, BCG, EY-Parthenon, Deloitte, Amazon, and major FMCG companies are among the confirmed recurring recruiters. For summer internships, FMS Delhi recorded an average stipend of INR 2.41 Lakhs for two months, while the highest stipend reached INR 5 Lakhs.

DU undergraduate colleges place students in banking, financial services, media, public services, and private sector companies. Alumni networks of SRCC and Lady Shri Ram College are active in banking, consulting, and civil services. Each DU constituent college publishes its own placement numbers separately.

Delhi University Rankings

Delhi University has a strong position in national rankings for universities. In NIRF 2025, DU ranked 6th among universities and 15th in the Overall category across all types of institutions in India. FMS Delhi is a faculty under DU and does not take part separately in NIRF Management rankings, though other ranking bodies often list it among India’s top government B-schools.

Delhi University Scholarships

Delhi University students can apply for government scholarships as well as awards offered at the college or institution level. The eligibility rules and application portals are different for each scheme.

For central government schemes, students must apply through the National Scholarship Portal at scholarships.gov.in. Merit scholarships at the college level are announced by each constituent college at the start of the academic year.

Delhi University Campus and Infrastructure

Delhi University functions from two main campuses and several other locations in Delhi. North Campus, near Vishwavidyalaya Metro Station on the Yellow Line, has the Vice Chancellor’s office, Faculty of Arts, Faculty of Science, Faculty of Mathematical Sciences, FMS Delhi, and colleges such as Miranda House, Hindu College, St. Stephen’s College, and Kirori Mal College.

South Campus can be reached from Dhaula Kuan. It includes the Faculty of Law, South Delhi colleges such as Lady Shri Ram College, Gargi College, and Kamala Nehru College, and the South Extension block of FMS Delhi. DU has hostels for men and women on both campuses, but seats are limited compared with total student strength. Many students therefore choose private accommodation near their colleges.

The DU library network includes the Central Reference Library on North Campus and libraries in all 77 constituent colleges. The Delhi University Sports Complex on North Campus is used for inter-college sports events. College cultural and ECA festivals, including Miranda House’s Tempest, Hindu College’s Mecca, and SRCC’s Crossroads, receive strong national participation every year.

Delhi University vs JNU vs BHU

Students comparing central universities for humanities, social sciences, and science courses often look at Delhi University, Jawaharlal Nehru University, and Banaras Hindu University. All three are UGC-recognised central universities and use CUET-based admission.

DU has the broadest UG programme range among these options and gives students access to Delhi’s internship and career network. JNU is stronger for postgraduate social sciences, research, and doctoral study. BHU offers many disciplines on one residential campus in Varanasi, including engineering through IIT-BHU and medical education through IMS-BHU.
