Established in 1987, The Indira Gandhi Krishi Viswavidyalaya is a co-educational agricultural institute which was founded through the State Legislature Act at Raipur. It is affiliated to the UGC and recognised by the ICAR. The University focuses on imparting knowledge about agriculture and allied sciences and lays emphasis on fusing technology with indigenous techniques to improve the socio-economic conditions of the rural people through various UG, PG and PhD courses.
The College offers 3 UG, 5 PG and 4 Ph.D courses. Students are required to check the eligibility criteria available on the official website.
- Students applying for B.Sc and B.Tech courses need to necessarily appear for CG-PAT and CG-PET and qualify 10+2 examinations from a recognised board.
- Students applying for PG courses need to have completed a 4 years Bachelors course in Horticulture/ Agriculture from a recognised institution and pass the cut off officially released by the university to be deemed eligible.
- Candidates applying for PG courses at The Indira Gandhi Krishi Viswavidyalaya need to appear for IGKV-CET examinations conducted by the university.
- Candidates applying for PhD courses are selected on the basis of IGKV- CET scores and subsequent interviews.
The University has received approval from UGC for all the professional courses being offered and has also been recognised by the ICAR. The institution has been ranked 10th by ICAR in the list of Best Agricultural Universities of India 2018.
