Course Description

Osmania University offers a 2 years M.Com program in two specializations i.e. IS and CBCS. The application process for the program will commence soon for the aforesaid program. The candidates seeking admission in any of the two courses have to appear for the CPGET. The final admission will be made on the basis of the marks scored by the candidates in the entrance test. The CPGET exam will be held online and will have multiple choice-based questions from different subjects related to the particular course. The examination is mainly conducted in the offline mode.

Osmania University M.Com Key Highlights

The admission is made on the basis of the candidate’s rank in the CPGET.
The candidates willing to apply for admission should possess a Bachelor’s degree with 40% marks in aggregate.
The minimum qualifying marks for the candidates who belong to the OC/BC category is 25% of the total marks. While there are no minimum qualifying marks for the SC/ST category.
The University offers admission in any of the four categories M.Com. M.Com.(IS) M.Com.(TTM) M.Com. (e-Commerce).
Osmania University was ranked 43rd out of the top 100 Universities in India.
The University does not offer Internship opportunities or placements to the candidates currently.
Each specialization under the M.Com course will have four-semester per year.
Around 85% of the total seats in every course shall be reserved in favor of the local candidates in relation to the local area. However, the remaining 15% of the seats are open to local and non-locals.
In addition to this, around 33% of the total seats will be reserved for the women category.

Osmania University M.Com Eligibility Criteria

The candidates need to fulfill the following eligibility criteria to get admission to the M.Com course:

The candidate must have completed B.Com.with 40% marks ( or equivalent CGPA).
There are no minimum qualifying marks for the candidates who belong to the SC / ST category.

Osmania University M.Com Admission Criteria

The admission at the Osmania University is done on the basis of the marks scored by the candidates in the entrance test CPGET.
The candidates who belong to the OC/BC category candidates have to score at least 25% marks on the entrance test. There is no prescribed minimum cut-off for SC/ST category candidates.
The entrance test will be an offline test with 100 MCQ questions from different subjects relevant to the M. Com course. The candidates will get 90 minutes to complete the test. The minimum qualifying marks for the candidates who belong to the OC/BC category is 25% of the total marks. While there are no minimum qualifying marks for the SC/ST category. The questions will be strictly based on the syllabus released for the particular course by the University.

How to apply for Osmania University M.Com?

Application Process:

Step 1: Application Fee

Visit the official website of the admission portal i.e. http://tscpget.com/
Click on the Application fee section and open the same on the next page.
Thereafter, fill in all the necessary details asked i.e. last qualifying exam, candidate’s name, Date of Birth, Mobile Number, Email Id, Disability Status, Payment type, etc.
Post this, fill in the debit/credit card or net banking details and make the payment for the amount asked.

Step 2: Check Payment Status

In the next step, the candidates are required to check the payment status by entering the Qualifying exam number and Mobile number to check if the application payment is successful and then visit the application form tab.

Step 3: Fill Application Form

Next, the candidates should click on the application form option,
The candidates have to enter the remaining details on the application form i.e. annual income, Academic details, name of institution, marks scored by the candidates in all the exams over the years.
In the end, the candidates have to fill in three regional test centers’ names to appear for the CPGET Exam.

Step 4: Application Form Print out

In the last step, the candidates have to check out the preview of the application form and cross-check all the details entered.
Finally, download the application form along with the payment receipt for future use.

Osmania University M.Com Course Details

The candidates can check out the details of the different specializations of the M.Com i.e. IS and CBCS. There will be four-semester for each course and the candidates will be required to earn the respective credits allotted to each term.

The total credits required for the first semester are 23. While the same for the second semester is 20 and 27 for the third and fourth semester respectively.

Osmania University has a placement cell dedicated to providing employment to the candidates pursuing the M.Com courses. It depends on the course. For technical and engineering courses, JNTUH is the better option. Osmania University is better for non-technical courses. It also has a good placement record. During the 2021 placement drive, three students from CSE, received placement offers from Microsoft with a placement package of around INR 41 LPA.

I know a few people from JNTUH and here is what I gathered from the conversations I had with them regarding the M.Tech admission process in Telangana State Universities like OU or JNTUH. It is very difficult to get admission to state universities with 433 ranks unless you have a reservation or quota. My cousin wrote the TS PGECET when he got the 50th rank in the exam. He was quite sure he will get a decent branch at JNTUH. However, after counseling, he got a VLSI design course in VNRVJIET. We inquired about this and got to know that at state universities like JNTUH and OS, the priority is given to the GATE exam candidates, and then the leftover seats are given to TS PGECET rank holders. If you want to join a state university I will suggest you write the GATE exam and try to get all India rank below 1000. If you want to study only at Osmania University then try to get all India rank below 5000 as there is a very high competition for this university because of nominal semester fees. Many students compete to join Osmania University because of its prime location in Hyderabad and very low tuition fee and hostel fee. There were even intense situations where students from NIT Warangal left their seats to join OS, for its location and low tuition fee. So, if you want to do an M. Tech course in state universities in Telangana It is better to write the GATE exam and get a good rank in all India.

Doing an M.Tech in EC is better at JNTUH. Though Osmania University is an old institution with a history of more than 100 years, it lacks in PG and Ph.D. courses. JNTUH on the contrary has a good reputation along with great infrastructure and strict guidelines in terms of the faculty members. The university cross-checks the background of each faculty member who will be teaching the students every year. From Nov 1, 2017, the process has changed to get the transcripts or memos from Osmania University. Here is the whole process in brief. Go to this website. Select the Examination branch. Choose the online services tab – Apply for certificates online. Osmania University is a link. You must first register with a mobile number, Aadhaar number, and date of birth. Once you've registered, an SMS with a password will be sent to your phone. After you provide your date of birth, the website immediately reflects all of the various courses you have completed once you log in. However, new ones can be added. Choose which transcripts you want to request. The file size should be as small as possible, no larger than 100 KB, and only JPEG files are accepted. You must upload the required documents online and pay Rs 1100 or Rs 1600 for the expedited process for the consolidated memo. Individual memo prices vary. However, the expedited procedure does not work. It displays an error message. Only Indian credit or debit cards are accepted. Not all banks are available for electronic transactions. Is JNTUH correction better or OU correction better?

Both JNTUH and OU are very good and reputed institutes, but there is no certain answer to which one is better in terms of correction. They hire lecturers for correction from the affiliated colleges of the same university and they are paid per answer booklet. They are given around 6-10 mins to evaluate each paper which you took around 2-3 hours to write down. The correction will majorly depend on what the candidate has written in the answer sheet. The answer script of JNTUH is generally very long compared to OU and this might be the reason why the evaluation is not very good at JNTUH. It becomes difficult to properly check all the answers within 10 mins. But now things have been improved a lot at JNTUH with the efforts in streamlining the things in the examination branch. Hence, there is no such clear winner on which correction is better, but if you write down your answers properly with good handwriting, then you are very likely to score good marks.

Osmania University, in my opinion, is a place where you can learn anything you want. Be it academics, politics, or your other goals. There are numerous resources available at OU that you can use to advance your career. The location of OU is its greatest asset. If you are stressed or bored with your daily routine, you can take a bus and be at RTC X-roads, the land of theaters, in 10 minutes. Even walking from OU to X-roads will take less than 25 minutes. Tired of the same old food? Just put your legs outside your room, and you'll have a plethora of restaurants to choose from. Biryani BAWARCHI, the king of Hyderabad Biryani, is also located on RTC-X roads. If you like reading, you can go to Central Library or Landscape, which are opposite each other. If you want to be an IAS officer, there are excellent coaching institutes like RC REDDY in RTC X-Roads. You can also enjoy some colorful scenery on campus.
