Edinburgh Student Accommodation: How to apply?
Edinburgh student accommodation applications will be available from March 2023 for the 2023/2024 academic year. Consider the following steps in order to apply for University of Edinburgh accommodation:
- Before starting the application process, applicants need to finalize and list 5 room preferences by thoroughly examining the various accommodation options available and prioritizing their requirements, which may include factors such as pricing, location, and bathroom facilities. It is important to note that University of Edinburgh will treat all five preferences with equal importance, and applicants should be content with any of the rooms they list as their preference.
- For accommodations, you need to submit a separate application from your application for admission to the university.
- Once you have accepted your offer to study, whether it is conditional or unconditional, you are eligible to apply for accommodation (via MyEd portal)
Edinburgh Student Accommodation: When to apply?
- Undergraduate Guarantee: By submitting your application for online accommodation before August 16th in the year you plan to start at University of Edinburgh and being UF (Unconditional Firm) on UCAS before August 31st in that same year, your application will be considered for undergraduate accommodation at the university.
- Graduate Guarantee: This guarantee is valid if you fulfill the following conditions: submit your housing application online before July 31st, accept an unconditional firm offer to enroll at the University before July 31st, and plan to study in Edinburgh for the entire academic year, beginning in September.
The process of room allocation begins in May and priority is given to students who have already accepted Unconditional Firm offers. Unlike many other universities, University of Edinburgh does not follow a first-come, first-served basis. Instead, room allocation is done proportionately based on the number of students who have accepted Unconditional Firm offers. For instance, if 10% of students have accepted such offers, only 10% of the Edinburgh student accommodation will be allocated accordingly.
