As I have friends in both the IIITs, they have learned that both are great in their own ways. However, there are some points to give you a gist.

• While both the colleges are focused on engineering, their specialization differs. IIIT Allahabad specializes in engineering along with management whereas the IIITDM Kancheepuram has the focus on design along with engineering.

• You should also determine whats your area of interest. If you are interested in computer and core subjects then opt for IIIT Allahabad, as they offer degrees only in Information Technology and Electrical & Communication engineering. The college will also provide you good placements.

On the other hand, IIITDM Kancheepuram offers 4 bachelor's degrees (Computer engineering, ECE, Mechanical, and Smart Manufacturing).

• The fee structure of both the colleges is the same. However, IIITDM Kancheepuram boasts a better infrastructure and better hostels too.

• Also, IIITDM being in South India has a fair share of North Indian students so the environment is diverse and non-discriminative. However, coming to placements and administration, IIIT Allahabad holds an edge.

At last, you need to set your area of interest and your comfort zone to see which colleges fit you better. If you are looking for a happening college life, then go for IIIT Allahabad as the college life at IIITDM Kancheepuram is boring with the least exposure and least entertainment options.
