FCD is First Class with Distinction. Students scoring over 70% of the total marks at VTU  are considered for FCD. Below is a brief highlight of VTU’s grading system.

  • 70-100% - First Class with Distinction (FCD)
  • 60-69% - First Class (FC)
  • 35-59% - Second Class (SC)

Students scoring above 70% are rewarded with a distinction for their academic excellence.

At VTU, FCD stands for First Class with Distinction. VTU calculates an aggregate score out of 100.

Students scoring in the range of 35-59 are awarded a second class (SC). Students with scores in the range of 60-69 are awarded a first-class (FC). Students who score over 70% of total marks are considered for FCD. This is proof of your academic abilities.

I have a few friends from VTU and according to them, the aggregate score at the institute is calculated in the following sections.

  • First Class with Distinction- 70% and above
  • First Class- 69%
  • Second Class- 59%

So, FCD stands for First Class with Distinction. You can also re-evaluate your paper in the institute as evaluation completely depends on the teacher. So, if there is any doubt you can always go for any re-evaluation. In some circumstances, the FCD (First Class with Distinction) marks do get increased.
