IT at VIIT Pune seems to be a better choice than IT at GCE Karad because of the quality of education it offers.

  • VIIT is an autonomous college and functions under the umbrella of VIT. Most changes taking place in VIT are implemented in VIIT too so students are offered updated curriculum and better opportunities.
  • The city of Pune will offer better exposure and opportunities than Karad.
  • VIIT has an active entrepreneurship culture almost similar to VIT. So if you are planning to create a startup, this is the best place for you. You will receive constant assistance from the faculties as well as the institute.
  • VIT and VIIT placements are combined so that they attract many companies. This year the average package stood at INR 7.5 LPA. Top recruiters included Ansys Software, BP Singapore, JP Morgan, Veritas, Black Rock, etc.
  • The foreign exchange programs offered by the institute will give you a chance to study abroad in top universities in the USA, Canada, Germany, Singapore, etc.

VIIT Pune is therefore a better choice than GCE Karad given its excellent opportunities and placement scenario. However, being a private college, it charges high fees and the cost of living in Pune should also be considered.

Vishwakarma Institute of Information Technology (VIIT) is an autonomous institute affiliated to Savitribai Phule Pune University. Government College of Engineering, Karad (GCEK) is a government college and is affiliated to Shivaji University, Kolhapur, and approved by the AICTE.

Admission Procedure-

VIIT takes admission for the IT BTech program based on the performance of the students in JEE Main or MAH CET. GCEK takes admission to the IT BTech program through JEE Main. The eligibility criteria for seeking admission is 10+2 qualification.

Course Fee- The course fee for IT at VIIT and GCEK are 5.56 lakhs and 3.34 Lakhs for a period of four years

Facilities-

VIIT: The college is built over a seven-acre campus and has facilities such as a digital library, off-campus hostel, cafeterias, sports facilities, and laboratories for each course. The college also provides shuttle service to students and an on-campus convenience store.

GCEK: The college is built over an enormous 69-acre campus. It offers facilities like hostels, sports facilities, high-tech laboratories, and a cafeteria.

Placements-

VIIT: Companies such as Cognizant, Infosys, and L&T visit the campus for IT placements. The placement package for IT ranges from 2.4 LPA to 15 LPA.

GCEK: The course has a placement rate of 90%. The package for IT ranges from 2.5 LPA to 8 LPA.

GCEK is the better option among the two institutes for IT on the basis of nearly all factors of comparison. However, if you are solely interested in placements, VIIT stands a notch above. However, GCEK still offers a better return on investment.
