Established in 1960, Government College of Engineering Karad is an autonomous technical institute situated in the state of Maharashtra. At present, it offers undergraduate, postgraduate and research level programs viz. B.Tech., M.Tech., MCA and Ph.D.

Government College of Engineering Karad  B.Tech  Admission 2023

Government College of Engineering Karad offers admission B.Tech. programs on the basis of performance in JEE Advanced, national level entrance exam conducted collectively by the IITs. Candidates should have passed at 10+2 level from the science stream to be eligible to apply.

JEE  Main is a 3-hour paper which consists of 90 questions covering all relevant subject matter to the engineering field.

  • Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics are given equal weightage.
  • The questions are objective type.
  • Four marks are given for every correct response, and 1/4thmark is deducted for incorrect response.

For those who wish to apply under Maharashtra State category, candidates must be Indian citizens who cleared their 10+2 from Maharashtra State Board. Government College of Engineering Karad PG Admission 2023

Government College of Engineering Karad offers admission to M.Tech. program on the basis of performance in the national level entrance conducted collectively by the IITs - GATE. Admission to MCA course is done through counselling conducted by DTE Maharashtra. Candidates should have passed at the undergraduate level from the relevant stream to be eligible to apply.

GATE consists of a 3-hour paper with 65 questions covering all relevant subject matter to the field as studied at the undergraduate level.

The application process varies for different courses offered by the institute.

For JEE and GATE:

  • A notification will be released by the IIT, following which the application forms will be officially released.
  • The registration link will be available from the official JEE / GATE – JAM website.
  • Candidates must submit the duly filled-in form, along with scanned photograph and photocopies of marksheet
  • Online payment of the application fee can be done through net banking.

For DTE Counselling:

  • The application fee of INR 700 (INR 500 for reserved categories) should be paid to acquire the application kit
  • The kit contains an application ID and password, which can be used to access the form from the official website
  • The form must be duly filled-in, clearly stating qualifications and work experience, and submitted along with all required photocopies of original documents.

Vishwakarma Institute of Information Technology (VIIT) is an autonomous institute affiliated to Savitribai Phule Pune University. Government College of Engineering, Karad (GCEK) is a government college and is affiliated to Shivaji University, Kolhapur, and approved by the AICTE.

Admission Procedure-

VIIT takes admission for the IT BTech program based on the performance of the students in JEE Main or MAH CET. GCEK takes admission to the IT BTech program through JEE Main. The eligibility criteria for seeking admission is 10+2 qualification.

Course Fee- The course fee for IT at VIIT and GCEK are 5.56 lakhs and 3.34 Lakhs for a period of four years

Facilities-

VIIT: The college is built over a seven-acre campus and has facilities such as a digital library, off-campus hostel, cafeterias, sports facilities, and laboratories for each course. The college also provides shuttle service to students and an on-campus convenience store.

GCEK: The college is built over an enormous 69-acre campus. It offers facilities like hostels, sports facilities, high-tech laboratories, and a cafeteria.

Placements-

VIIT: Companies such as Cognizant, Infosys, and L&T visit the campus for IT placements. The placement package for IT ranges from 2.4 LPA to 15 LPA.

GCEK: The course has a placement rate of 90%. The package for IT ranges from 2.5 LPA to 8 LPA.

GCEK is the better option among the two institutes for IT on the basis of nearly all factors of comparison. However, if you are solely interested in placements, VIIT stands a notch above. However, GCEK still offers a better return on investment.
