Patna University (PU) is planning to conclude its admission process by January 14, for UG programs. The university is now accepting applications for PG programs for the academic year 2021-22.

Patna University is still continuing with its admission process for 2020-21, while only 3 months are left before the academic year ends. Even though some universities have commenced their new session, PU is still accepting applications for UG and PG programs.

The university has scheduled the last date of a counselling program for LLB course as of January 12 and will fill up the vacant seats for traditional and vocational UG courses via spot admission. 

Officials state the reason for the delay in the admission process is the pandemic situation, winter vacations and state Assembly elections.

Dean of students’ welfare, NK Jha says that the online portal for MA, MCom and MSc courses have been opened and considering the large number of applications received and preparation of merit list in view of reservation criteria, it's a time taking process to conclude the admissions.

Further, he stated that many students are called for the counselling in small batches for the sake of social distancing and Covid-19 protocols. Admission process for BA, BSc and BCom has been completed for the affiliated colleges. 

Some students have expressed their aggravation for not being able to attend the regular courses even after taking admission. The academic year has not even started and the curriculum is running late by 6 months.

Many colleges have made arrangements for allocating hostel rooms to the new batch. Patna Science College has started accepting applications on Thursday for seat allotment in hostels. The varsity plans to finalise seat allotment in February on the basis of given preference.

Patliputra University has completed the admission process for the current session by recording more than 1 lakh students in various UG courses.
