Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University (RTMNU), is yet to release the regular semester exam schedule after the new academic session began about 6 months ago. Since then classes were ongoing only in online mode.
In normal circumstances, RTMNU would end the semester exams by December. However, in the wake of COVID-19 pandemic, there have been subsequent delays. However, students wary of delays can push their academic year to be stretched further and extended till July or August 2021.
Speaking on this, Prafulla Sable, Director of Board of Examination and Evaluation (BOEE), Nagpur University asserted that the university is awaiting further instructions from the state government.
He said, “We’re waiting for directions regarding papers of second, third and subsequent semesters from the state higher and technical education department. The first year exams would be obviously delayed as their academic session commences from September-October due to delay in the admission process on account of pandemic-induced lockdown.”
Sable pointed out, there can be a 90 days gap from the date of starting an academic session and holding exams, as per UGC. As the session began later, first semester exams can be held on a later date.
However, management council members believe that RTMNU is an autonomous body and it can take decisions for its students. This unordered deferring will only affect the academic career of students.
