Mumbai University affiliated degree colleges released their First Merit List for Undergraduate Admission 2020 on August 6. The cut-off percentage for this year has increased marginally from the previous year.
Mumbai University received around 6.5 Lakh applications this year, in which 1.5 Lakhs are for B.Com stream.
A student who scored 97.8% in his class XII Board examination was unable to qualify for the 1st Merit List released by St. Xavier’s College for the BA course which closed at a percentage of 98.6 for the non-state boards.

He further said that he was expecting the cut-off marks to be comparatively low for this year because of the COVID-19 situation, but the outcome was completely opposite.
Mr. Ashok Wadia, Principal, Jai Hind College said that the number of high scorers for this year has increased and thus the cut offs have been pushed towards the higher range.
He further said that the cut offs for the B.Com courses have increased by three percent and thus the students in the 80% bracket may find it little difficult to excel. A total of 11,000 applications were submitted to Jai Hind College.
Even the cut offs for NMIMS are higher this year in comparison to that of the previous year.

Mumbai University Admission 2020: Popular Courses
The courses which saw the peak in applications this year are B.Com, BMS (Bachelor of Management Studies), MCJ (Mass Communication and Journalism), BFS (Bachelor of Financial Management), BA in combination with Math-Economics-Statistics and B.Sc in Information Technology.

MU Admission 2020: Shift in Interest
The MU Admission 2020 has noted increased interest in subjects like Humanities and Psychology which is an interesting thing, says the academist.
Cut for the Psychology Stream at KC College went up to 96%. Dr. Hemlata Bagla, Principal of KC College says that the BBI (Bachelor of Banking and Insurance) and film, television and new media production are the emerging fields of interest for the students.
College Principals were also surprised at the large number of applications from the Non-Maharashtra category students despite the current pandemic situation.
Mumbai University Admissions 2020 was completely arranged through online mode, but the document verification and process will be physical.
For the time being, MU affiliated colleges are instructed to provide provincial admission based on the undertakings and will be counted as permanent only after the submission of the valid documents.
