Mahatma Jyotiba Phule (MJP) Rohilkhand University released a notice stating the word 'applied' from all its post-graduation courses will be withdrawn because of the difficulties faced by pass out students to find jobs opportunities.
Around 30 years ago MJPRU, had introduced PG courses of MA and M. Sc with the word “applied” for Philosophy, Psychology, Economics, Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics, as advance courses, on the lines of JNU as per the University authorities information.
Although, during these years, it has been witnessed that the MJPRU pass out students (across Rohilkhand division comprising nine districts) have been facing problems in seeking jobs.

MJPRU will discuss the concerning matter in the executive council meeting. After that, a final decision to the effect will be made. MJPRU VC also informed that all mark sheets and degrees provided to the pass out students will be replaced within a month, and they will give provisional documents.
KP Singh, the vice-chancellor of MJPRU, said that The University, on the lines of many famous universities, had launched PG courses of M.Sc and MA during the 1990s with 'applied' word in five subjects.
Unlike MJPRU, many universities already made required changes and removed the applied word successfully from the courses after receiving grievances from pass out students. MJPRU pass-outs are going through similar problems while applying for the post of assistant professor or pursuing civil services.
At the time of job applications, students do not mention 'applied' with courses while filling the qualification section. But later, at the time of verifying documents, it states qualification implies ‘applied’ before the subject in which they hold a degree. This information didn’t match what they provided online, raising many complaints.
VC Singh added, “Such degrees and mark sheets are being termed as inauthentic and being turned down, thereby resulting in difficulties in the recruitment process.”
Thus, MJPRU has finally decided to withdraw the word applied from all its PG courses. Regarding this decision, a final call will be taken during the 20-member executive council meeting including, VC and 14 professors, among others.
