National Testing Agency (NTA) announced on Sunday, April 18, 2021 that JEE Main April 2021 has been postponed due to an increase in Covid-19 cases across the country. The new dates will be announced at least 15 days before the exam. Education Minister, Ramesh Pokhriyal stated the same on his Twitter handle.

"Given the current state of the Covid-19 pandemic, as well as the safety and well-being of the candidates and examination functionaries, it has been decided to postpone the JEE Main April 2021 session," the agency said in a statement. The first two sessions were completed in February and March of this year.

JEE Main Preparation Tips

After several candidates and parents requested a postponement, the decision was made.

Earlier, speculation swirled that the CBSE and state boards' postponement of class 12 exams would have a knock-on effect on the schedules of the JEE Main, JEE Advanced, and NEET.

The Union Health Ministry postponed the NEET (PG) 2021 exams for admission to master's programmes in most private and government medical colleges on Thursday, three days earlier than scheduled.

Admissions to various Under Graduate (UG) programmes at the National Institutes of Technology (NITs), the Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology (IIEST), Shibpur (West Bengal), and other Centrally Funded Technical Institutions (CFTIs - excluding IITs) are made on the basis of ranks/merit obtained by candidates in the NTA-conducted JEE (Main).
