New Delhi: Guwahati Medical College and NUJS College have secured their top positions in the Eastern Zone Finals of ConQuest 2022: India’s premier national quiz on Constitution, History and Politics. The national quiz competition was held after a 3-year hiatus owing to the COVID-19 pandemic.

ConQuest 2022 Eastern zone final was held on November 12, 2022, Saturday at Kolkata's Loreto College campus ground. The quiz competition was organised by the Centre for Law and Policy Research, in which teams fought to advance from Eastern India in a total of 5 rounds.

Teams competed to the very end to score as many points as possible. Guwahati Medical College, which was taking part for the first time, took first place with 80 points, followed by NUJS 1 with 65 points. With this win, both of these teams will fly to Bengaluru for the all-India final in December 2022.

Among the participants, the Presidency University, NUJS 1, NUJS 2, NLU Odisha, Guwahati Medical College, and Indian Institute of Foreign Trade were the final six teams to compete in the preliminary round, which had 40 teams.

Since its debut in 2016, ConQuest has grown to be the largest educational game and event honouring India's political and constitutional heritage. This year, India's top national quiz competition made a triumphant return after a three-year absence due to the COVID-19 epidemic with a theme honouring India's 75 years of Independence.

Undergraduate and graduate students in the scientific sciences, social sciences, engineering, humanities, and law are all welcome to take the quiz. However, M.Phil. and PhD candidates are not permitted to compete, although they are permitted to watch their regional rounds and/or national final round as spectators.

Meanwhile, the Assam government and the private sector have joined hands for the very first time to improve and develop the infrastructure of the new Guwahati medical college. The state government and Bright Star Investments Pvt. Ltd. signed a contract for infrastructural development of the academic block of the college.
