January 2, 2021: The Gujarat High Court has issued a notice to Gujarat Technological University (GTU) after hearing the plea of students to hold semester Examinations in online mode.
Gujarat Technological University, Ahmedabad organised it's final year examinations online earlier due to the pandemic situation, but the varsity is planning to conduct physical/offline exams for engineering students.

The reason for this decision is students' caliber can be tested through OMR sheets only and with online exams, it can create issues in discrepancies in OMR sheet as it has come under notice for conducting NEET 2020 exam.
With this, the GTU students have sought the help of the High Court requesting to organise the exams over online mode for the sake of their health. Many students have raised concerns for offline exams saying they will have to move to examination centers and gather in exam hall which can risk the spread of Coronavirus.

Since the hostels have been closed due to Covid-19, there will be commuting problems for out- of-the-state Students as well.
Justice Vaibhav Nanavati, after hearing the petition of Students has issued a notice to GTU for their response on January 1, 2021. The varsity is under the impression to prepare it's response by January 6.
