New Delhi: Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU) Amritsar has invited applications for PhD admission for the March, 2022 session through PhD Eligibility Test, which is scheduled to be held on March 22, 2022.
Candidates interested in pursuing the PhD programme from GNDU can apply online for PhD till today, March 14, 2022. The varsity will deactivate the online application window from tomorrow.
GNDU Phd Admission 2022: Eligibility Test
The varsity is conducting the PhD eligibility test for different departments/subjects to fill in seats for the Ph.D. programme according to the prevailing Ordinances of GNDU for its Ph.D. Programmes.
Candidates must note that the validity of the Eligibility Test will be valid for a period of three years.
Candidates who have qualified UGC (NET)/ UGC-CSIR (JRF) exam/ SLET/ GATE/ GPAT/ ICAR/ INSPIRE/ Rajiv Gandhi Fellowship awardees/ teacher-fellowship holders/ Direct Fellowship Awardees or have passed M.Phil. from GNDU /Validity Certificate of qualifying GNDU Ph.D. Eligibility Test will be exempted from taking up the Ph.D. Eligibility Test.
However, the above-mentioned candidates are required to apply online for admission to Ph.D programmes offered at GNDU.
It should be noted that the candidates qualified with UGC/CSIR/INSPIRE/Rajiv Gandhi Fellowship awardees or candidates who are awarded fellowships directly by these or other funding agencies for the purpose of pursuing Ph.D. can enroll at any time during the session.
In contrast, the M.Phil candidates from other universities are not exempted from appearing for the Ph.D. Eligibility Test.
Candidates must score a minimum qualifying 55% marks (50% marks for SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/differently-abled candidates) in the PhD Eligibility test for admission to Ph.D. Programme.

GNDU PhD Admission 2022: Eligibility Criteria
In order to enroll for admissions into the PhD courses from GNDU, candidates must meet the following eligibility criteria,
- Candidates must hold a master’s degree with at least 55% marks (6.18 CGPA out of 10) or 50% marks (5.62 CGPA out of 10) for SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/ differently-abled candidates of GNDU or an equivalent degree of recognized Indian University in the subject concerned or allied-field.
- Candidates who have passed their qualifying examinations (Masters) under Distance Education Mode, ODL Mode & Lateral Entry Scheme from the Central Universities/State Universities/ other Govt. Institutions/Deemed Universities /Private Universities or under Regular Mode from Deemed/Private Universities, must check the equivalence of their qualified examinations from Equivalence Book – University Links/Information Desk/General Branch Information Desk) or contact the Equivalence Section of the General Branch, Administration Block before applying for admission to the respective subject in Ph.D.
- If any candidate gets admitted to the PhD program without verifying the equivalency of their previous qualification and is subsequently found ineligible then the concerned candidate and the concerned department will be responsible for all the consequences.
GNDU PhD Admission 2022: Application Process
Candidates can fill the online application forms available at the official GNDU website @online.gndu.ac.in. They can also go through the GNDU PhD ordinances to know the application process.
Candidates must apply for the PhD programmes before the deadline. The application submitted after the deadline will not be accepted by the university.
